Facial Recustomization

The Rataway was a poor choice for this, the lighting is so bad I can barely tell what I am doing.

I too would like better lighting in an area where we can tweak our characters even if its just the hair, dirt, and face paint those are the only things I change.

What really svcks is that you cant do it with vampires. :/

Great idea that , stick in a facial reconstruction option in a vampire based DLC taht doesnt work on vampires. Bloody pillock who ever thought of that restriction. If its to stop peeps not looking like a vampire, just bloodywell add the effects again after we are done sculpting our faces. You have to wonder sometimes wtf developers are thinking when they make decisions like this.

Only reason I want to face sculpt my vamp is that the cheeks are way too shallow now, so its making my character look like its pouting all the time. Plus I would like to change my tatoo colour, as its not the one I selected at character creation. The game wigged out and chose the wrong colour after I was finished.

I agree the bias against the vampires regarding the new facial sculpting is asinine and it makes no sense what so ever who cares if its "dead flesh" its still flesh. I simply do not understand the faulty logic to keep this option from those that wish to be a vampire or a vampire lord its just beyond me.

What I don't like is I have to pay 1000 to do the customization. What if I don't like the changes or jsut wanted to mess around? Shouldn't I be able to customize then pay and shouldn't I have the option to back out?

It doesn't really matter to me since i have around 500k gold so that part is fine but, the above stated is what really bothers me

I will go to Riften before the DLC is installed so I can change his looks before he becomes a vampire.

WTF is everyone on about, just hold a torchup, and you get a torch on each side of your face when you do it, the lighting is a million times better than when the gam first starts.

The in-game dialogue is simply a way to explain a mechanics restriction. On the PC if you open the character creation (via the developer console) as a Vampire it causes issues with your character. When you contract vampirism your race (as far as the game is concerned) changes from Nord, Breton, etc to Vampire.

Doesn't fix the other problem Skyrim's character creation had: The camera really doesn't want to be a team player. It's in a fixed position and all you can do is turn your head 30 degrees or so in any direction. Not terribly helpful.

Your race stays the same (as noted in the character menu) only when in VL form does it change to Vampire Lord. No-one on xbox is opening the console, so that point is moot. In any case its still idiotic to lock out vampires and vampire lords from facial changes, its an artificial restriction only tagged on because Beth didnt want to go to the effort of having to re-apply vampire visual effects after sculpting.

How is it moot? It proves that character creation does not function properly for a vampire character (it can cause the same issue that using the Ring of Hircine causes).

You are right that it's Bethesda cutting corners and it could have been made available by adding in more mechanic stages for vampire characters wishing to use this feature.

They would have to have it remove your vampirism upon entry, make the changes then reapply it afterwards.

No it shows that using the console can screw up the game. We are not "creating" a character, we are simply editing the face. Nothing else about the character changes. unlike with the console commands, we dont get the option to changes sixes or race therby limiting the amount of things that can go wrong.

And again, there is the solution of allowing us to edit our face and then re-applying visual effects to the character like glowing eyes and pale skin. That way we are editing our normal "base" face that we started the game with and not the vampiric features.

I have my settings brightness really low so that when i'm in a crypt it's actually dark and hard to see, thus needing mage light and other things, but when I go to do facial construction I can see just fine, you guys need to stop whining, and just up your brightness, bethesda put it there, so it'll stay there, there is a brightness option for a reason, use it and stop complaining, not to sound like an ass with you guys, but it doesn't need to be moved.......

You could cure your vampirism, do facial reconstruction, and go get VL again? The only reason I can think of to not do this, is in case you lose your perk progress? I've not tried myself...

I must be explaining it poorly because you don't understand my point.

On the PC you can use the developer console to bring up the character creation menu anywhere, any time. This is the same menu used at the start of the game and the same one used in Riften on the DLC, it does not create a character it just edits your existing one. The only difference is that the one in Riften has disabled the ability to change race and gender.

Using the character creation menu as a vampire can cause issues such as losing the ability to feed, losing your vampire abilities and so on. My point with the PC developer console is that the adverse effects of using a character editer while being a vampire are known to exist.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29CPJ7Mbq5o

Now what the game does when you're a vampire is instead of simply applying various buffs and debuffs to your character it flags your race as "vampire" which has things tied to it such as attribute loss in sunlight, etc.

So my Breton starts the game, he is a Breton. (Breton is displayed in menus)
He gets vampirism, he is now a Vampire. (Breton is displayed in menus)
He goes into the characer creation menu and becomes reflagged as a Breton but he should be a Vampire. (Breton is displayed in menus)

In both the original character creation and in the Edited version in Dawnguard, I simply turn up the brightness setting. It gets rid of the shadows, you just have to change it back to whatever setting you are going to be playing at before selecting skintone or make-up.
