Consequences of Pets "Expiring"? : V - Skyrim

I ended up getting the "non-aggressive" skeever in my basemant at Lakeview, but it was a nasty looking, disease-raddled thing that did nothing but sit there and snarl like it was getting ready to attack, so I killed it anyway.

I got lucky on the pets. Blaise wanted to keep Meeko as his pet, so I let him and then went and got Bran to be my dog follower. Lucia adopted the bunny.

Dude, your skeever sounds exactly like the foxes I've endured, complete with the chain smoking. I don't think that the thing with Meeko or Cotton/the rabbit are that rare, either (I'm plagued with them happening, over and over...)

One family at the moment has Bran and a rabbit, the other only has a rabbit, still waiting for the boy to find a pet. Braggen is not having another dog in the house after trying Meeko on the first playthrough, so he is just going to wait this kid out, he is taking ages, the family has lived in all three Hearthfire homes and still he has not found a pet. Another few ingame months at Windstad and probably I will try Lakeview again before shipping them off to Proudspire Manor. Either he finds a pet or it is going to be a one pet family.

Aleson brought home a pet skeever so i let him keep it. It sounds like its dying! it makes a horrible weezing noise. If i kill it, do the children hate you?

What's wrong with the dogs? I got Vigilance and just have him wait outside. Even after he "returns home" he will still be outside the first time I come back home so I just get him as a follower again and tell him to wait. He is part of my Home Defense Force along with Shadowmere, the housecarl, steward, wife, bard and carriage driver.
