One handed Xbows

The Sand Furies are demons, they have tremendous strength.

lol well we're dovakhin in this game so we have shouts, I don't think that adds to our physical strength though.

lets be honest the xbow from DG is pretty overpowered compared to our own RL crossbow so a single handed crosbow pretty much seem to be very unbalacing

Oh! And the citizens will be looking at the dragonborn, as he walks by, with a long chain of arrows, dragging across the ground.

No kidding? I guess Arnold has probably done M60"s one handed. Do you have any Youtube videos showcasing this ability, I'd love to see that. Running with an M4 in each hand would be awesome, probably kill a lot of baddies that way too. :gun:
Note I said fire, nothing about hitting anything, think fallout 3, zero small arm skills and an almost broken machine pistol :)
Also said that accuracy was terrible, accuracy of pistols is terrible compared to rifles anyway.
And yes you need both hands to reload, it would probably be even slower to reload than an standard one
However an small one handed pistol crossbow would be useful with an poisoned bolt. Not much use without poison as it would be very weak because of the small bow.

True, a pistol sized crossbow could be shot one handed, just like a pistol can be shot one handed. But the point I was commenting on was your claim that a person can fire an assault rifle one handed. This is what I'm curious to see. Nothing about accuracy, I'd just like to see this shooting an assault rifle one handed.

Oh, other than in movies or in a video game of course. :)

That is a 19th Century model, but it would be possible to back-scale it to a more medieval design without worrying about any lore violations. It would still require two hands to reload, though. Seriously, there is an immense amount of power in a fully drawn crossbow, enough where the full-sized models required you to stand on them to get enough leverage to re-draw the bow. Later models added winches to alleviate that (which is what the Dawnguard crossbow is based on), but still, good luck using one hand to operate it.

While you're at it please give me a lesson on how to shoot lightning out of my hands irl. It's a GAME people! We have dwemer robots in it, yet that is somehow ok, but oh no auto reloading Xbow are not. LOL!

With your reasoning we could have the spaceship of fallout 3 to make it's appearance in Skyrim.

Because they physically make sense as magic or magical constructs. A crossbow is a physical, non-magical weapon. An auto-loading crossbow would, then, have to be magical and fire magical bolts. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but you'd need "cast time" to replace reload time. Otherwise, you're talking about an auomatic weapon with infinite ammo, which would be, well, silly, and better left for CoD-like games.
They have it in the game and they are called staves. In Morrowind you could make items like rings with an cast on use effect with an impressive rate of fire.
even more off topic http://www.vg.no/sport/artikkel.php?artid=10060532 here is a guy who use a bow with no hands.

a 1 handed, pistol gripped trigger, self reloading xbow is too close to a gun and therefore has no business in a world where lightning shoots from your hand...they have that 1hand xbow in call of duty black ops so go play that :P

oh and you can shoot lightning from your hand IRL by using a tesla coil and special metal gloves so there you go :P

it is an interesting idea and it is also feasible. the wire on the crossbow could be pulled back using a lever action mechanism like the model 1887 in cod games and it could load from a top down magazine using gravity to drop the bolt into place. the downside of this weapon is that the clip would have to be replaced every 5-10 shots.

No such thing as a one-handed crossbow, really, since you always need two hands to reload. So, it's either a one-shot deal, or an immersion breaker.
Exactly. The mod is a real immersion breaker. But for those who don't care about immersion... nothing stopping you from getting it.

Problem is that you would not get enough power from the lever action, in the rifle you only has to move the bolt back and forward to reload, with an crossbow you has to use a lot of force to draw the bow again. Yes you could use magic, perhaps some of the dwemer dynamos but in this case you could just as well have it as an autoloader.

No it's not an insane weapon design. I had the idea of something like the gatling laser in fallout but using six magic staves who rotated and shoot different spells downrange.

People was discussing airplanes and helicopters in Fallout 3, my idea was an mini nuke powered one, think an combination of an orion spaceship http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion) and a pogo stick
