What Are Deathhounds and Gargoyles?

] In all honesty Beth took out many things like that. Ghosts and Wraiths in OB could only be killed with Silver, Daedric, or enchanted weapons but now you can behead them with any sword

Yeh. I do agree with this to a certain point. Some stuff like this didn't rly make much sense to me but others, like the Ghosts, should've stayed.

Well, Serana says her mother was fascinated with magical contructs if you ask her about the Gargoyles in Castle Volkihar(when you are looking for her mother) so that gives some validation to the theory that they are just that, though it is not conclusive evidence.

As for the Daethhounds they are undead, seeing as the Stendarr's Aura, Sun Fire and Vampire's Bane spells affect them(Turn Undead probably works too, but I haven't tested that). Just how they became undead and whether or not their existance is directly ties to vampires I have no idea.

Actually DG weapons look kind of Mithril-like do they not?
That was what I hoped when I saw the trailer. I sort of RP it that I can only kill them with the DG axe. I was positive mithril was making a comeback, but alas it was not to be.

A presumed Death Hounds were just a remake of Hellhounds from Arena. The description would fit them pretty well (except for the fire and hell part), with Vampires summoning from the soul cairn.

"These canines are actually from the nether planes, usually summoned by some powerful being to perform a service. They attack with their powerful jaws, or with a fire breath that burns their intended victims."

Nether was the name for Oblivion back then and the soul cairn is a realm of Oblivion.

No idea about Gargoyles but at least they make more sense in Dawn Guard then they did in Daggerfall.

That is a Daggerfall-Gameplay thing, not a lore-thing...
How is it not in the lore if it was in Daggerfall? Where is the continuation? Like Drake said, what about the ghosts? That is a gameplay thing too, why was that removed?

It was removed cause it didn't make sense.. The only part of it that did was the one with the Ghosts and other spiritual beings... Everything else had a physical body and should be harm by anything unless there is some sort of "if".
