I think Proudspire will be my home for my vampire along with this mod once it comes out on PC.

I feel they could have made FDG really good imo, it just didnt happen. Had they 1. cleaned all the cobbwebbs and other crap up, and made it look slightly presentable, and 2. Givin you your own cell for your quarters(or just not make npcs take your stuff...), it could have been really good. I cant say for vampire castle, as I havnt finished the ql yet, but I hear its pritty bad as well.
Yes, it's pretty bad as well. Fort Dawnguard had cob webs everywhere and some areas were dark, even after the forge and what not was put in, it still felt empty.

Castle Volkihar is an exceptional player home, tons of vampires everywhere to keep you company..a smith and several other vendors in the castle and in the "kitchen" some prime choice human cattle.

Fort Dawnguard svcks in comparison.

Yup, I also saw that same interview with Todd when he used the term "trick out" which definitely suggested the option of being able to upgrade and customize your new homes. Sadly, this is not really an option at all.

To be fair, the stuff like alchemy/enchanting tables are already free and provided. So would my experience have been better if I just bought these upgrades from an NPC? I don't think it would have been to be honest.

Catbread - I love the house in Markarth, especially after you throw out all the barrels, buckets, baskets and other decorations that clutter the house up. My house in Markarth is nice and clean, and looks really good.

You can place your items in your area of Castle Volkihar, you just have to be careful because everything else will respawn, but the containers and bookshelves are safe. The display cases are all taken up by respawning items, so you cannot do much with them, and I gave up before getting to testing out the weapon racks and plaques. The area I wanted was in the back section of the castle, and nothing worked there, I was very disappointed. The Dawnguard Fort had nothing to really interest me, the weapon rack in our room never worked that well, no display areas and one mannequin I did not really trust, but gave it something anyway just to test out what would go wrong. None of the containers seemed safe. My character Aussie has not even bothered returning it was so interesting.

I never got my hopes up before Dawnguard was released, all I heard was we get a room in the faction area, which really never interested me that much, it was not till I went through the back section of Castle Volkihar, saw the nice big weapon rack and got excited thinking it might be usable later. It was not, and you always have to get to it going the long way around, the area automatically resets and is unreachable from the balcony. My characters have plenty of houses anyway, but something bigger would have been nice. :(

If the victor had got the spoils Aussie who fought on the Dawnguard side would have moved into the empty castle and claimed it, but since she is not allowed to use anything without stealing it, that was pretty pointless. I will probably test out if everything still respawns, maybe steal it all and get rid of it and still claim it.

Despite all the houses and living options in Skyrim, I won't be content with anything less than a Jarl's palace.

Please Bethesda, give me a customizable palace. Thats not asking too much, right?

Seriously, I want the Palace in Markarth. The Jarl's room has a waterfall in it. That is pretty much what I want for player housing.

Hmmm. Luckily for those with a computer and TES V: Skyrim within it's system, this inconvenience can be avoided. Modifications galore!
They're the fix to all of bethesda's oversights. as well, they're free! In addition, you can also add them to an xbox 360 save with the right tools.
So really, don't bother to complain. If you want something done, do it yourself. Do not expect bethesda to patch it in, because they won't.

Seriously, the development team down there are more likely to pay attention to a paper clip flying across their desk, then a few fans reviews.
Although that is not to be said as an always true stereotype. As one can find on occasion that a http://www.gamesas.com/user/648687-vsions/ is heeding the forum's concerns.
Just be aware that at most times it's better to get the small fixes done by yourself, than to expect a developer to fix their own forgotten feature.

:ermm: Sadly, Im on the 360, and dont have any spare cash siting around to get a better pc, and because of xbox live, microsoft can usualy tell when you have those developer tools, they flip [censored] about it.

Man I wish I had a pc....

But untill that day, all I can do is hope someone from bethesda scans through this topic, and listins to our feedback. They've done a good job with this so far imo with Skyrim.

Before I issue my biggest complaint of the dlc, let me first start off with this. For the most part, I liked dawn guard. They actually tried to make a two-sided story (...)

Well...
Two-sided story with almost the exact same quests. I think that the only difference between the two stories is the kind of enemies you encounter.

These two castles are well designed for anything but living in. I don't think spending more money could make them better places, perhaps it would be better to wait for the next DLC.
At least for those who will buy it.

I thought Castle Volkihar was perfect for living in, either an entire wing for my Vampire Lord character, or the entire castle for my Dawngard characters. I would have taken it cobwebs, ruins and all if nothing reset (except the garden and Valerica's lab) and everything worked, and we were allowed to help ourselves to everything in the castle.

A Diamond palace inlaid with gold and silver, with a mixture of every single races style on top of Skyrim's biggest mountain would be nice.
