Useless: argonian ability to breathe underwater. There is not much need for it in Skyrim, hopefully there is more stuff in the waters of solstheim.

Dumbest: Farkas.

Another useless thing: the lockpicking tree.

Torches: I use them frequently. A combination of a crappy TV and my brightness at halfway leads to some seriously dark dungeons. My characters almost always carry torches or know the candlelight spell.
Silent Rolls: there's a fine line between realism and downright annoying, IMO. Besides, it's no less realistic than running across the entire map without food, water or taking a break and not being tired in the slightest.

I thought this topic was about Lydia...

NEVER insult Albus Dumbledore Lydia in front of me. ;)

I don't know, I usually don't use a torch until I have cleared a dungeon, then at my leisure, I can explore more thoroughly and a torch will sometimes help me make sure I don't miss anyhting..

I'll agree with the Blades being useless and I've never used Torches in any playthrough either, but I have to disagree with the Argonian breathing ability as well as the silent roll because I've used both many times and they have saved me a bit of trouble.

I suppose I could say the Lockpicking tree is the dumbest since when I used to take the perks in that tree, the master locks in particular were still a pain in the ass for me and after I stopped going into that tree I had equal trouble with them.. so it was unhelpful to have bothered with the tree at all since I pretty much wasted perk points.

Maybe not the character, but I'm likely to get dizzy as the player.

If you're a mage type, you should just use a light spell instead of a torch.

If you're a warrior, then that extra slot is arguably put to better use on something else.
That's why I think there should be a perk or two that rewards single-handed combat.

Hence I mentioned RP. Some people will use spells rather then torches as it fits their style. It doesn't negate them altogether. And as for single-handed combat... There is?!

I know. That was a let down. Instead you take all the risks, and get robbed with expensive speechcraft training.
