I was pro-Empire, but now I'm not so sure

Try to delve into the sides of the Stormcloaks, not every single one of them is racist and I believe they are the best side.
Sigh. Why is racism always mentioned nowadays when it comes to defending your land from invaders?

Wrong again. The Empire conceded to the WGC because they didn't have the confidence to pursue the conflict. They are weak today for the same reason Britain was weak after Chamberlain came home proclaiming "peace in our time".

BECAUSE THE GREAT WAR DRAINED THEIR SUPPLIES AND MAN POWER! SAME WITH THE THALMOR. unless you and every other stormcloak supporter on these forums have evidence that the Empire had the resources to continue the war, they had no choice but to agree to the "surrender"

Because on Newthink. Racism is one of those "dog whistle" terms guaranteed to bring the weight of moral authority to any argument.

Correct. The point I'm making is that the Empire is as much responsible as Ulfric.

Ulfric could have not agreed to it to not risk his fellow nords getting in trouble or he could have just not done it at all. He made the choice to do the Markarth issue and thus it is his responsibility for getting arrested.

Plus what if Ulfric got assassinated by a Thalmor servant? by the time Skyrim picked a new high king, the Thalmor could already have destroyed Cyrodil and be invading skyrim.

Exactly, which is why the WGC should have never been signed, giving the Thalmor the political advantage.

So what? The Empire could have not encouraged Ulfric to do so.

Quite the contrary, my friend! The Battle of the Red Ring was won because the Empire had recovered and regrouped while the Thalmor were stretched too thin! Rather than press their advantage and grasp the initiative, the Empire chose to negotiate from a position of strength. Unfortunately, the terms of the armistice favored the Thalmor.

Tell it to the Free Men and Women of Hammerfell who forced the Dominion to a surrender Treaty on thier Terms, not Dominion demands.

Once more into the fray...
Im the opposite of you, I was pro-stormcloak for a few days, until I found out about the stormcloaks "EXTREME" nationalism, compared to the empire which values everyone equally.

skyrim was always a part of the empire and most of the imperial soldiers in skyrim are nords.

the civil war is empire nords vs. stormcloak nords. not imperials vs. nords. i will not discuss about the right side, because there is no right side. this just makes your last question weird. to me at least...

Remember that the majority of the Thalmor were focused on Cyrodil and when the Empire defeated them at the battle of red ring, the Altmer lost about 50% if not more of their forces, so the Redguards were not really fighting the Thalmor full force.

Except for the part where the Empire fully supported and encouraged his actions, and then threw him to the wolves when the Thalmor found out.

this.

during the markarth incident, the empire betrayed ulfric and all nords.

And Ulfric slaughtered innocent Bretons and turned them to the forsworn....
