Best way to have stealing like that is to have it as a pickpocket mechanic that one player preforms on another player, and if the player trying the pickpocket is revealed then the player he was trying to steal from can kill him or if in town the NPC guards swarm the offender and kill him allowing the player to access the corpse and take the head for bounty.

There was player stealing in Ultima Online, not sure if they still have it though, and it added a lot to the game. I can remember one time standing in town with two swords of vanquishing in my pack and suddenly realizing some thief had just stolen them. What happened was I was on my way to the bank to put them there for safe keeping and I got a message on ICQ from a friend so I stopped to answer it and in the 40 seconds to 1 minute that took me the thief pounced and took the swords.

Another time I was going through the gates to enter the city of Trinsic and all of a sudden the trade window pops up and in that window are several of my GM crafted bows with my name stamped on them. A thief had stolen them from me and was giving them back because all he wanted was the thrill of doing the act. Then he spent the next half hour to 45 minutes telling me how to set up my pack with traps on bags within my backpack that would alert me to thieves snooping in my bags...

I miss the feelings things like that brought to the MMO and it really seems the Theme Park MMO's have taken a giant step backwards in terms of what the player is allowed to do in an MMO.

There was also a bounty system in UO and any player who had maybe been ganked by a PK player could go to the bank and place a bounty on that players head. Usually if that player was someone who did this all the time many other players had already placed some of their gold as bounty on this player. I spent the better part of my days in UO hunting players who had high bounties on them and collecting the reward when I turned in their head. Also most players who killed lots of other players were known as Murderers and their name would be red to any other player and it would read, "The Murderer John Doe" and because they were in that stage of player killing every time they were killed they would experience stat loss and gaining back those stats took a very long time when your name was The Murderer....

You seem to be new here...

1. There is no open world PvP, the only PvP is in Cryodil and you enter that at your own discretion.

2. Bethesda is not making this game, ZeniMax Online Studios is.

3. It is impossible to speculate on player bounties or stealing right now since we have no information on that.

4. Talking about a "sweetroll" in any kind of context is generally an iconic joke amongst longtime Elder Scrolls players and the general community.

Your post makes it seem more possible to see something like this added to Elder Scrolls Online
Bethesda isn't a watered down company like how Square Enix or Activision Blizzard are now compared to back how great they were when Square Enix was Squaresoft and Enix and Blizzard back when they were still Blizzard North
Bethesda is as great a game company as they've always been
Bethesda still cares about making quality games because they know people will buy them and with that i appologize for going offtopic again

And Valkar, Zenimax may be developing the game but if Bethesda comes across a fan suggested idea that they like, there is always a chance it may find it's way into the finished game in some form

I doubt very much we will be seeing pickpocket like I described or bounty system like I described in ESO, it is just not done anymore in the Theme Park MMO's of today...maybe if you go and play Darkfall Online they might have it in that game because it is a lot like the old days of Ultima Online when MMO's were much more sandbox then they are now.

This threads seems like a complete waste of time. Yes it is, moving to next.

OP, I suggest you spend some times reading the various threads in this forum before posting, do some homework, watch some videos etc. Really, we're glad to help people get informed and happy to discuss the subjects of the game, but helping the lazy is not my thing.

Its optional, you dont need to go to Cyrodil, but I really hope you do, thats like the beef of ESO. Keep in mind though theres about 120 hour of content, story, zones, exploring, books, crafting etc etc, per alliance/faction. Make an alt for each of them, you can play 300+ hour easily.

Indeed. If you're not interested in a thread, don't post in it. Spamming the forum does not endear you to the moderators.

I wasn't spamming, as I clarified on my post, this thread in intself is almost a spam. One quick read to the FAQ would reveal that PvP is obviously optional in this game (you have to go to Cyrodil), one video on youtube would clarify the doubts of the OP.

You wanna condemn me for saying what is obvious to anyone who reads the posts in this thread, go ahead.

I do have to agree actually, it's pretty basic and not to mention easy to find knowledge that PvP is currently only in one province and that it's not true open world. I mean all you really need to do is skim the FAQ for 5 seconds or read pretty much any article or something on the game to find that information.

There's only one or two of these threads that pop up every few weeks though so we should just try to be tolerant, some people quite simply can't take the time to do even the barest amount of research sometimes.
