is this a PVP game or PVE game ?

Is this like a realm vs realm pvp game with some PVE on the side like DAOC was? or is the PVE a big part of the game or can you choose to play PVE only and no PVP?

I think this is a RvR game mostly, there will be a lot of encouragement to go to Cyrodil (The RvR area), but you could probably choose to entirely PvE if you wanted.

Wrong, PVE makes up most of the game, three whole areas are nothing but PVE and even in Cyrodiil where the FvF PvP it also has PVE. The devs have not really spoken about the other faction areas so it would seem to you that the game is a PVP mmo but it's far from just a PVP MMO.

RvR cant catch player for too long. Finally you will get bored of it, like in GW2.
TESO should have a lot ot PVE content and daily quests xD

I read it all as the faction zone is pretty much the 1-50 questline, with a lot of other exploration involved as well. But the PvE objectives in Cyrodil are designed to encourage as many people into that area as possible.

I expect the PvE content to be huge, but I expect the balance to be PvP related. And I expect the big focus will be on Cyrodil.

But I am newer than you, so might have missed some bits of info,

RvR was all that kept DAoC alive for a few years, it may attract a different audience and not appeal to TES fans, but it isn't 'boring'.

Welcome to the forums!
From what I understand this game is more on the PvE edge but they aspire to be great on both fronts.

Yeah, this game is like... 80% PvE. All faction zones only have pvE content, and then in Cyrodiil, the only zone where PvP is possible, there will likely be a lot of PvE content to fight for (dungeon entrances, public dungeons, daily quest hubs, resource farming spots). In Cyrodiil PvE mixes with PvP and outside of it there is only PvE. So one can safely say that this game is mostly PvE, even though I doubt PvPers will run out of content.

I personally think it is the right way to do it, without a PvP status like resilience or expertise (thank god they don't have those) it will be easier to do both PvP and PvE without having a gear gap that will force players to grind gear sets. It encourages people to go on a lateral progression rather than vertical exploring all game aspects instead of having to choose only one.

Wrong. I'm sorry, I don't know for sure and really haven't seen a lot of detailed information on the matter. You might be better off asking for links, articles or videos. I could see this turning into a really confusing opinionfest without many actual facts.

EDIT IN: I'm interested to know more about how the developers are defining this game as well. Many posters here are good at finding information already released.

How many players has DAoC? How many players even heard about this game?
Every project has its own of fans, the question is how many. If MMO wants to be poplualar at first it should have a good PVE. Even in Lineage raiding is important part of gaming.

Most of players want new content, new dungeons, new design, new play mechanics. RvR cant provide such things.
