All I get from that quest is quite a bit of gold. No house offered at all.

The first part is. That will open another for an assassination attempt. After that the manor is given as a reward.

I have done the first part but no assassination attempt...... Could you please give more details cause I'm just kind of running around waiting for something to happen.

ha after 1 quest? what's your max carry weight? try bringing a follower to help lighten the load or hire the guy in the retching netch to give you a hand

Carry limit is 440, i picked up lots of ebony weapons from the Draugr deathlords, that would be the easy option but i decided against followers for morrowind i wanted to go it alone. Ive just been storing the new armours on the floor of the room you can rent out in the retching netch so far.

Completing the questline for the Raven Rock Counselor gets the Manor as a reward. Start it by heading SE, just out of Raven Rock. It's a scripted encounter with the Guard Capt and some Ash Spawn.

Thanks i made a start on that quest i'll finish it now.

Got my 10000 off the capt but he then sent me on a mission to fine a wine stash in raven rock, no assasination mission? Any ideas? I've been searching for this wine for too long

The stash is in a barrel between 2 foundations just after the empty house. Then go talk to the captian and do one more quest, the assassination and then get your house.

you have to do a few more quests for the counselor, the one you get for helping the captain is just the starter quest

That quest should just be a stand alone side quest. IDT it has anything to do with the quest for the Counselor. Once the quest for the Guards is completed. It will open up more dialog options and a quest to prevent an assassination. Completing that quest will grant the new home.
This quest is not given by the Guard. Like Ashley said. It's given from the guy you first met at the docks.

Op, i have dropped things in front of the blacksmith and came back to find them still there. I have also done this on several occasions. One would assume that dropping them any old place would work.

Confirmed, I did this too with a character who's a smith by trade. She quickly became forge-friends with the RR blacksmith who doesn't mind some clutter here and there.
