Neloth: one of the most amusing characters in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 9:11 am

I have to go back and look at that. I don't recall him being that. I will have to reread the journal.

Brandyl Tenvanni. Given his name, Tenvanni, he is the last direct blood-heir of the original Telvanni familiy.
That doesn't mean much for the Great House. In Morrowind, nobody with a name even remotely associated with "Telvanni" was even part of the council.

I like how when you ask him about briarhearts if you leave after you start the conversation, if you g back you can say
"you were talking about briar hearts?"
neolth: yes i was before you rudley walked away.

Ive never heard an NPC criticize you for cutting them off before.

Now that is interesting. Too late for my current char, though.

Wait I haven't played morrowind at all but I have read there was a dark elf named neloth that was in morrowind. So I'm wondering is this the same person I read about.

Sorry morrowind is the only elder scrolls game I haven't played.

Same character, much more interesting personality and dialogue.

Each of the Morrowind Telvanni mage-lords has (at least) one defining character trait. Neloth is the Cranky One.

Ok thanks for the info. Anyway Neloth does add humor to this dlc.

If Neloth is the "cranky" one, how would you call Therana, making her naked Khajiit decorate her room with rotting Kwama eggs?

I was waiting for him to turn on us the entire DLC. The way he talked about getting the power from the books and his complete self serving attitude, I figured he was siding with HM or seeking the rise to power himself. It would have svcked. Glad they didn't head in that direction.

Did not read whole thread to see, but do you know who he reminds me of exactly?

That necromancer neighbor, on the Venture Brothers.

The voice even sounds similar.

The apothecary at Tel Mithryn tells you that she's an old woman, and that she remembers the Red Year from when she was a little girl. She then says that when she was a little girl, Neloth was an old man.
It was shown in his dialogue in Morrowind - where he said that a certain woman is "a child only two hundred years old"

You're probably thinking of someone else. Elynea Mothren wasn't in Morrowind.

In any event, particularly powerful Telvanni Wizards have a tendency to live for quite a long time. Regular Dunmer on the other hand, they aren't so lucky.

Where did I say anything about her? I used the term "a certaing woman" since I wasn't in the mood to check what was the name of the owner of Drake's Pride (who is called a child by Neloth - despite being 200 years old).

The person you quoted was talking about her, I was merely clarifying. :)

The opinion of peasants doesn't hold great value for a Telvanni Mage Lord.

Ah but he isnt closedminded and pre-determined, he recognises your worth eventually and makes you an honorary Telvanni.
You get a bedroll and chest and everything.
My Telvanni Nerevarine would approve.

I laughed hardly!
A bedroll, wow.
But seriously, I love the guy. I look forward to join House Telvanni once again.

It's funny, he was one of the Mage Lords I had no great feelings for in Morrowind. At first I was disappointed it's not Divayth Fyr on Solstheim, but everyone loves him, anyways. Bethesda chose very wisely. They let a less prominent Telvanni Master become one of the greatest Skyrim characters.

What I love are the instances I can say: "Yes master Neloth." In fact I even say it when there isnt a dialogue prompt.
Or when I have performed a task I sprint up to him going: "Master Neloth, master Neloth, Success!"
Really I think the best character in all of Skyrim.
