Miraak fight

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 3:35 pm

He dealt more damage to me, so I'd say Miraak. Even almost killed me once. I got sloppy.

But even without that, the fight did have what was most important. Enjoyment. Miraak was definitely more fun to fight.

Atmosphere - Miraak
Difficulty - Miraak
Clothing - Miraak
Rewards - Miraak
Ending - Harkon

Rewards? Very debatable. I found the sword to be adequate damage with a useless enchantment. The staff became useful once against two higher tiered Lurkers (It staggers them). But most of it, along with the staff, is very caster-heavy.

Harder and more fun than Alduin for sure.

Alduin is actually pretty difficult with the Deadly Dragons mod for PC. If you have the mod on hardcoe difficulty and the game on Master difficulty, then the fight is so epic you might as well this during the fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_MW65XxS7s

must have miss read your comment lol sorry. I get what you mean now, and thinking about it they Gould have given it more of a unique enchantment maybe something to do with the range of the tentacle or poison/paralasis would have been better

I hated the last 10 seconds of the fight. I won't spoil my reasoning for this, but It just spoiled the fight IMO. The rest of it was epic, and 10 times better than Alduin and harkon.

But what did Harkon's battle yield that was so much better? One mediocre sword. That is all.

let's compare shall we

miraak-robes,gloves,boots and a mask for helping with dragons a sword with the best base damage in the game and a staff that poisons and paralyses an opponent.

harkon-some robes with a magic regen enchant and a sword with the base damage of a steel sword thats enchantment only works for vampires and still isn't that good.

make your choices on your favourite and best boss reward

Miraak blew Harkon waaay out of the water. No amount of Serana can change that.

And Harkon's armor isn't even unique.

making his boss rewar even less appealing honestly the only reward for that entire quest if you sided with the vampires is auriels bow and even then using the blood soaked arrows causes more vampire attacks on city's you are in but that's not a discussion for this thread really

I thought Harkon was much more difficult, simply due to how fast he moves around. Getting into a brawl with him wasn't so bad, it was his constant floating around and disappearing that annoyed the piss out of me.

Miraak was a lot more of a straight up fight, but he kept running and healing like a weenie. My game kept glitching too, having his health bar completely disappear and him being permanently ethereal, thus invincible. That was pretty irritating. Had to reload many times.

I think Harkon dropped better loot, his sword at least. Miraak's loot is useless garbage. The sword looks neat, but Absorb Stamina? Seriously? His mask svcks, his robes are pathetic. At least the Bloodskal Blade's energy wave stuns enemies, Miraak's loot can be made by someone with Enchanting level 30 probably. .

But can't Harkon's sword only be used by Vamps?

For me it was very easy, with one overpowered char with two enchanted legendary dragonbone weapons was two hits for each Miraak's recovery.

With a vampire stealth/illusion char was the best one, sneaked on him with the blade of woe and depleted his health in one sneaky hit, after he recovered I dual-casted the expert calm spell (illusion perk tree completed) and he got calmed, sneaked on him and rinse and repeat.

And lastly with a two handed char with armor maxed it was a good old hack'n'slash.

You mean the enchantment on the sword is only effective if used by vamps obviously, at least in theory anyway, but Serana was supposedly cured of vampirism yet using that sword with its full effects.....
