The no save challenge

Post » Thu Feb 28, 2013 6:18 pm

Seems a little extreme. Skyrim sessions of that nature rate up there with dance marathons, hot dog eating contests, and games of "Bladder Bust" (don't ask): for people of extreme passion and questionable intellect.

Even for DiD players (standard rules), periodic saving needs to be allowed, because glitches or distractions happen. If your cat jumped up into your lap and clawed the crap out of your privates, and your Level 73 character with 314 hours in got roasted by a Legendary Dragon because you were on the floor mewling in pain and clutching your mutilated "equipment"... well, I say you rate a reload. Ditto if your game crashes.
Also, you may want to look into a new cat  . My cat has gotten me killed in Skyrim, but it has never tried to ruin my life in real life. (He has bit my nose a couple times, but that happens)

In gameplay it equates to a DiD. Not sure what it would do to your social life or power consumption to only play the game or leave it on all the time......

this seems one of those ideas that a guy has before playing diablo, normally they end up dead

I tried DiD, opted out after about 12 hours of it. But for many, it's the only way they'll play. And that's fine. Maybe I'll even try it again someday. On Apprentice, maybe, at least at first. But I think "No Save" just goes a little too far, since it puts your game in the hands of anything from power failures to ornery cats to specks of dirt on your Skyrim disk.

I don't really think this is as serious as some people are making it. Not that anybody is really that upset about it, but still. I don't think it is supposed to become a regular playstyle. I would think you just do it once, post the results, and move on. That could just be me though, but I mean it makes sense. I don't even think you should leave it on when you leave/go to bed. Wait until you have a good amount of free time, make a character, and play until that free time is gone. Whether that free time is 2 hours or 2 days, I don't think it matters.

That's what I figured. As I said before, I tried it awhile back, lasted 18 hours, then randomly died.

IF it was possible, the longest a person can go with 0 sleep is about 5 days. After that the body WILL shut down to sleep. Thus ending your run. Not to mention dehydration within a couple weeks would do you in. A month for no food.

3 days no sleep you start slowly losing rationality. 4 days halucinations 5 days can lead to death(because body may shut down at the worst time.. such as driving down the highway) Longest I've played any game was about 18 hours. That was FF7 where I was off first disk by 12-13 hours. Midgar at the 3-4 hour mark.

BUT it is possible to hit absurd levels quickly in skyrim.. level 10+ in less than 6 hours. So you MAY hit point of "godliness" quickly

My game would freeze up long before I reached my limit. It's the main reason I save as often as I do now. Skyrim is just way to unstable to depend on no saves and I don't have that much time to throw away on nothing.

I tend to agree with you here. I even have it on my HD and not disc on the Xbox and still freezes for no apparent reason....lol

If I go too long without saving, I feel like I'm asking for trouble in the form of the game crashing, or some bug/glitch messing up my character in some way. I don't save so much because I'm afraid of my character dying.
