The question is pertaining moreso towards anime, but overall in general as well. Which do you prefer? You decide. I prefer subs myself. I've rarely ever seen a good dub.

Depending, some dubs are superior to the subbed versions (Full metal alchemist, Madoka Magica, Metal Gear Solid) , while some are the other way around. (Metro)

I like dubs more.. I barely watch any animes though..

I don't watch anime apart from Ghibli movies but generally with anything foreign I go for subtitles instead of dubbing.

I prefer watching dubbed comedy anime due to how the pacing of that stuff is. I could not watch Hetalia subbed. The dialogue went by far too fast. Great Teacher Onizuka's English dub is hilarious despite being intended as a joke dub. Besides, GTO is always brimming with awesome. I mainly watch anime subbed due to how I like to have it less censored, but comedy anime is something I hate watching subbed.

I prefer dubs if they're available (and half-decent), simply because it's easier to listen to the words and watch the show, then to try and watch the show and read the words at the same time. You miss out on details in fast-moving sequences easily.

Also, I've noticed that the voice actors for a lot of anime have voices that do not match the character's appearance in the slightest, at least in my opinion, and dubs tend to do better in this regard.

Dub in animes are fine---they just don't do well in real life films, they tend to svck...although Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is the expection, that movie although dumb---is actually brillantly put together.

Tend to stick with the former. I want to experience things how they were originally intended to be, and dubs aren't very good for that. I know this is a silly reason, but it's just something I feel like I have to do.

That is actually a very legitimate reason. Some anime doesn't seem right in English if it is about something like some more Japanese centric type of topic.

See I'm different I don't like animes in foreign language, watching an anime in any language other then english---me no likey. I don't like reading subtitles in animes cause then your just reading it and not watching and looking at the impressive artwork that goes into it. I remember when Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocents first came out I was bummed at not understanding what the characters where saying and reading the subtitles just ruined it for me, then when it was re-relased in english dub I was excited even more excited when they got the cast from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex to do the voice acting...then all was right with the world as I was able to watch and enjoy that movie.

I used to hate watching with subtitles, but I got used to it. Mostly. Hetalia is still the most unpleasant subbed anime experience due to how fast it is. I think it almost gave me a headache. Used to irritate a friend of mine who was into Naruto when I used to be by saying how I watched an episode in Japanese before it aired on American TV. Hehe.

Subs generally, although some dubs are well-made that I'll watch the movie or show if I don't feel like reading (such as while eating, etc.)

But I could probably count the good dubs I've seen on one hand: Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Dragonball Z... hmm, off the top of my head that's it, actually.

Subs are invariably better because the voice actors are better cast, understand the source material better, and generally have higher production values across the board.
