The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I'd like to ask everyone what they think are some of the best features of ESO, some of the worst.

Best:

1) Moving in combat

2) Attacking and blocking with mouse keys.

3) The skill system for how you have to choose 6 skills out the hundred or so choices we might have.

Worst:

1) Limited exploration until 50.

2) So far, no auction house :tops:

3) Not being able to see other players in the enemy alliances.

I hate to be "that guy", but I'm all positive so far. I just think that's do to my personality though. Instead of going "RAHHH don't do that ZOS" I have faith in them. I more or less say.... "Interesting choice. I wonder how that's going to play out in the grand scope of the game" I just think they know what they're doing and are obviously adamant about their game and ready to make this a monster of an experience and support it as such. The fact that its a TES MMO period, along with the several initial pitch points, have assured me a front row seat for this game. 200 man battles and enjoying the world of TES on a massive scale? As long as I have a proper computer I will reap some level of enjoyment from this game. Will things change upon release after I get to go through everything? Of course. I'll have my dislikes. But at this moment I'm just nodding at each passing update, awaiting their final product. Personally can't hate on a company that's proven their ambition and potential before the game is out and played by the masses. IMO, of course :smile:

EDIT: @OP. Just to give my opinion on your dislikes. I think 1 and 3 are absolutely fine for me. Yes exploring all of Tamriel on one toon would be nice and they have given us that. I'm not too greedy. I'll be QUITE content with my 1/3 of Tamriel until I'm level 50. Haha. People tend to say the whole faction lock ruins immersion, yet after thinking about what they're trying to create i actually see immersion being created. I LOVE the alliances at war feel. Can't explain to you my pride for the Alliance in WoW. It bring such a high level attachment to the game/ (I plan on being of the AD btw. Elvish pride shall play a large role in my experience) And with the auction house, I won't lie, I am curious about it. It's something I would like for sure. Yet, going back to my original theme here, I think ZOS didn't include one for a reason and I'm interested in seeing what that reason is and how it applies to the game.

Last I saw was about a month ago, the lead guy--forgot his name right now--said it was not in the game right now. I'm not saying it won't be in the game at launch, but when asked directly about the AH, he said right now players can trade hand to hand and the AH is not in the game at this time.

Probably couldn't have said it better myself. My biggest gripes with the game so far have been more or less answered, or atleast changed in a way that is acceptable to me. Biggest thing is the faction locks and PvP being restricted to Cyrodiil only. I hated that at first, but everything else was so good I was going to play anyway, and then they announced you can atleast go see all the content in the other zones and Cyrodiil is going to be a massive zone with more than just siege combat going on and I was alright with it.

Not to say I still wouldn't prefer open world PvP with a toggle/phasing, even in other factions zones in the 50++ unlocks, but these things are an acceptable compromise between myself and ZOS as far as I'm concerned.

Good: action/soft-lock based combat

sieges (if they're as intricate as I'm hoping)

Hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee province to have a playground for PvP

character customization (classes, skill trees etc.)

no fus ro dah being advertized in their game design

Bad: Lack of mentioning of the RP aspect of the game

no dyes

no info on any cosmetic tabs

no sandbox elements besides character customization. I'll live with the themeparkness, but I have my eye on other MMOs that are sandbox hybrids, and despite being a devout follower of the cult known as TES, there may be better games out there, and I may leave for greener pastures.

no collision detection

Yeah I guess I do still have worries at this point, but nothing to drastic. And i like the point you made. I will have some dislikes, but so far I'm not seeing them out-weigh the upsides. Not by a long shot.

One thing I do remember that made me smile (And I know it's nothing near cosmetic tabs and altering armor) was in an interview with Paul Sage about crafting he mentioned making your current armor appear as a different armor if you were a master armorer. Immediately thought of transmogging from WoW. While not as customizable as say cosmetic tabs, we still don't be seeing every max level heavy armor player running around in the same looking armor :smile:

Best

(1) game build around 3way realm vs realm PVP zone with endgame progression system using passives and abilities to keep building your character after max level, NOT gear

(2) combat system : active blocking and counter attacking, no cooldown hot bar rotating, uses stamina and magika resource bar

(3) crafting system that actually makes and enhances endgame gear

Worst

(1) no personal house

(2) 4 classes, I completely understand the TES system and possibilities with any armor and weapons but I still would like more base classes for their unque 3 skill trees. personally would like 6 to 8 classes

(3) enemy alliance classes are the same other than racial tree. I would like the different factions to have different classes with different skills that are similar to their counter parts. reference DAOC classes... like Assasins = Nightshade, Shadowblade, Infiltretor. Archers = Ranger, Scout, Hunter. Restoration Class = Healer, Cleric, Druid and so on

Is this actually confirmed? If so I'd bet pretty high that it gets changed before launch. I hope so anyway.

Seen it listed a few times so far, but yet to gear it from an actual DEV interview.

Best:

First-person combat
Skill-based progression, less reliance on pre-selected classes
Exploration and lack of quest hubs
Able to play as a werewolf (assuming they don't screw the gameplay up)

Worst:

Racial faction restrictions
Poor handling of lore (not necessarily breaking it (mostly), but twisting it in poorly conceived ways and causing genericide).
Lack-luster storytelling
No continuous open world

Pretty sure they've said they will have player homes, but they'll be added after launch.

Best

* Custom classes

* NPC Guild progression

* Faction wars with strategy and territory gain

* Combat seems to be fluid

Worst

* Oversimplified character stats

* Biding abilities exclusive to weapons.

* Segmenting the world much based on game play stereotypes

* Possible lore mismatch

* Possibly lackful stealthplay

* Possibly broken MMOish economy. Playing crafters/traders being suboptimal.

I think all they've said so far amounts to "not at launch, but don't write it off completely." Means it's a possibility, but not quite a certainty.
