What is the most you would pay per month for ESO?

Post » Fri Jul 05, 2013 10:07 pm

I know some of you want B2P and F2P and that's cool. You can just say zero. No biggy. However, for the ones actually willing to pay for the game every month, what is your top price before you claim it would be too much?

How much would you pay per month for ESO if it meets your positive expectations?

*please be serious.*

Personally, if it is good as the hype(I know it is never as good as the hype), I would pay up to 25 a month.

EDIT: Keep in mind. I'm not asking what you feel you should pay or even what you want to pay. I'm asking what is the MOST you would pay. It it was 5 dollars more, you simply would not play.

Hit $15, for the simple fact that its been the industry standard for, like, ever. And unless the game comes with a plug-n-play device called the Oralator and was literally the best game ever made, there's no reason to go above that. Games like FFXIV with a sub fee can go lower if they want (12 bucks is decent, imho), but never higher.

Is there no reason to go below that? I mean, if we're going to add microtransactions to this, might as well make it 5 dollars, although I'd say just go f2p. For a positive experience however, i'd make it 5-10 dollars. I'm a bit biased, needless to say, I never liked the idea of being on a monthly subscription for games, regardless.

$15 - while I am all for the P2P model I do think charging more than $15 for a monthly sub fee would be ripping people off.

The $15 fee is reasonable and will ensure that there is constant funding for regular and quality patches and content updates. This will in term keep the game fresh and the player base happy.

i said $20. If the game can actually hold my attention for 10-20 hours a week, and there are regular patches and content updates, as well as decent tech/customer support, then I believe they deserve that money. I see it as I would have used that money anyway to pay for other games/movies/etc. if I wasn't busy playing the game.

Obviously if they can feasibly do it for $10 a month, without any negative impact on quality, then that would be preferable as I am quite poor.

In the end, I expect it'll be $15 just like usual.

I would go up to 25 € per months if the quality is really awsome. But normally 15 € per months because its standard.

Okay, I'm just going to ask. You guys that say 15 bucks- Are you saying that if they charged 20 bucks a month, that would be a line in the sand and you would not play?

Just curious.

Maybe. It would have to exceed my already currently super psyched expectations, which I don't think is possible, so I went with 15.

I prefer buy to play, but if it's sub based I think I could pay $10.

$15 max. And that also means not converting it to 15 euro for the Euro people because it is 11.6 euro. And if they want to make me keep paying the $15, that means

- regular updates in the form of patches, content

- good support

- ingame events

- good server stability

SWTOR failed on the first 3 and that is why i quit the game.

Zero. Charge people $5 for the mystical sword of 10,000 souls or whatever item of the month they want to sell. Since I'll shell out $65 for a disk and another $20 every time an expansion drops they'll get $120 from me easy. When's enough, enough? Some of you sound way too eager to give away cash.

I said 15 bucks. Living in Europe I may agree to 15 Euro, which is nearly equal to $20.

To answer your question, 15 $/€ is really what I considder to be the upper limit for what I would accept as a reasonable monthly sub-fee. Having said that, if ZOS announces that there will be a $20/25 monthly sub-fee I would still be playing ESO at launch, but I would have lost a lot of the respect that I currently have for ZOS as a developper. I would also strongly reconsidder for how long I will continue to play ESO. I mean I currently expect a monthly sub-fee of €10-15, and I will happilly pay that for years to come as I expect ESO to become my long-term MMO home. BUT if ZOS disappoints (which I personally doubt will happen) I will probably be playing ESO for 3-6 months and then move on.

ZOS could disappoint me in one of the following ways (again unlikely as I trust that they will not disappoint me):

- Turning ESO into a cash cow by making it F2P/B2P with P2W cash shop OR by charging unreasonably high sub-fee of €25 or higher monthly, possibly with cash shop on top

- Not delivering good and frequent patches, bugfixes and content updates

- Frequent technical issues such as server downtime or constant server lag issues

- Turning ESO into a themepark ride where you level to max level in a few days by facerolling through content with closed eyes and all to do in end-game is raid or die

$15 is the sweet spot. If the game is really good, I'm willing to pay $20, but I won't be happy because I'm all about opportunity costs and $20 is half of a new game for me.

I went for $15.00 as anything higher is too much as far as MMO is concerned.

if its a lot better than other p2p mmos i could go up to 20-25, but since i doubt the experience playing teso will be much better i say max 15

I would prefer $15 as that is the MMO standard. $20 is the most I will pay. I can't justify more than that unless the game is amazing.

If there is a sub, I'd be willing to fork out 15 bucks a month for it. But no more than that, even though I love TES. Anything more just sounds greedy and I've never known Bethesda (the publishing company) to be that kind of company.
