Monthly sub scription and Free to Play (F2)

So I had this idea so we can have a discussion and vote on about this and which type we like playing.

Reading this http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/08/24/free-to-play-makes-sense-for-blizzard-at-some-point/ it would be a bad idea for Blizzard Entertainment to make World of Warcraft Free to Play (F2P) because Blizzard would lose so much money and probably close down World of Warcraft fast.

I myself do not like Free to Play (F2P) video games I hate cash shops and microtransactions.

I have been paying subs every month for EVE Online and World of Warcraft for over 10+ years. Hearing The Elder Scrolls: Online will be a monthly subscription MMO this will be the third MMO I will be paying monthly for.

I have never played Dota 2, League of Legends (LOL), PlanetSide 2, War Frame, etc cause they piss me off.

Lets put it this way if you play Free to Play (F2P) video games you end up paying more every month than $10 dollars (USD) or $15 dollars (USD) I have seen people who spend $300 dollars (USD) a month on PlanetSide 2 and then do stupid stuff like cheat and get banned I read this from a Tweet from SONY Online Entertainment's Twitter.

Someone paid $400 dollars (USD) for Microsoft Flight and now Microsoft Flight was pulled off of Steam and is getting shut down same goes for Age of Empires (AoE) Online.

Your thoughts?

Free to Play (F2P) in my opinion is a plague on the video game industry. It's a way to make way more money off of virtual items :/ I find it better to pay monthly for the MMO to keep the servers running 24/7 and not be locked out of anything have everything released for free.

Games that are F2P done right I have no issue with. Games like Planetside 2. The cash shop is just vanity items and has no impact on how well you perform compared to a non paying player. If it's legitimately required to have a subscription in order to avoid a pay to win cash shop, then by all means it's the better route. I think I prefer a system like EVE Online has. If you make enough money in the game you can fund your account with PLEXs and if you want a lot of cash quick you can buy PLEXs with real money and sell them on the game market. Sure this only works in a game with a sound economy, but it's a pretty neat system.

There's another system as well, though. Games like Guild Wars 2. You pay once and that's it. There's an in game shop offering nothing that would inflate your ability over other players, but it offers a neat selection of vanity items and a few account bonuses like an extra character slot.

I can't really say I like any system the best. If any of them are done right, then the game is worth playing. If some of the subscription games went F2P, I'd be quite aggravated, same goes for some of the F2P or pay once games switching their policies. In all honesty it's about the game, not the subscription type. If the payment method somehow screws with the game content in any way shape or form, then the game is ruined more or less.

If a game with a monthly subscription is fun and engages my interests, I'll pay to play it. If a F2P game is fun, engages my interests, and doesn't nickel-and-dime me, I'll play that, too.

I never bother with games that advertise themselves as F2P, but are actually pay-to-win. There are some F2P games where microtransactions really are just an option and not necessary to enjoying the game.
