A search revealed the last topic for this that contained the word "death" was back in April. In accordance with the Necro Prevention Act, that shows favor to starting a new topic after an abandonment of at least 3 months, I started this one.
I wanted some newly formed insight as to what is to be expected from developer commentary and what the community would like to happen in the circumstances of death in the game.
My hope is that the penalty is worthy of the character dying in the first place. I feel that nothing but good can come from a stringent ruling and the result of total loss of equiped gear, if not the total loss of inventory. Otherwise the game becomes way too casual and death has absolutely no meaning at all.
I see talk of a "revive" option upon death, where the player is reincarnated on the spot. I truly hope this is not implemented, and is solely related, to Beta. ( Note : This is not an encouragement to discuss Beta information. Simply and observation for the reasoning behind the mechanic. )
I welcome harsh and complex diversities within the ramifications of death. It will promote better gameplay, as a whole. The combat becomes more skilled oriented as it will encourage tactical and deliberate encounters, as opposed to just mindlessly gaping through the gameworld. It also encourages a thriving economy as it fuels the need for a true supply and demand concept.
Any thoughts, comments or relative developer inspired media is welcome.
