PVP Enabled Public Dungeons

Post » Wed Oct 09, 2013 9:54 am

Brian Wheeler has told us there will be pvp enabled public dungeons in Cyrodiil. What I would like to know is what reward is going to be good enough to bring people into those dungeons as opposed to lining up in the alliance area dungeons? I think they need a different loot table or items that are not available in safe dungeons since playing in a pvp enabled dungeon will seriously slow down progression. Or will pvp give the same kind of skill gain? But it will still lack people because of reduced drops since we cant loot other players.

I also wonder how the level scaling works . I know we have a lvl boost when we enter Cyrodiil so I am going to guess they just have mobs bumped up the same way. But I have never experienced pve in one of these boosted environments before. Swtor was the first time I ever played a game that messed with your level and it wasn't really as terrible as I thought it was going to be. Has anyone ever played pvpve in a lvl scaled environment before?

One thing I would really like to see is a loot table for dead players. So ya don't start ranting about full loot pvp here, that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about being able to pull some gold and whatever off a players body the same way you can a mob. That would really add a lot to the pvp side of this game and give some reward where reward is due. Players take time to kill just like mobs do, but they slow down your gathering/hunting so much more and then don't get anything for killing them beside 1/100th of a pvp rank.

There was that one dev interview some weeks ago, the pretty lady mmmm pretty lady <3

She told us that we had what 18 dungeons in Cyrodiil ? (not sure on the amount , cant remember) and 5 of them was master level dungeons ? meaning very good PvE loot will be dropping from master level dungeons, the problem is..... you need to go there, the dungeon finder will not help you ;)

We can expect the most needed crafting materials to be dropped there (the biggest source for them i think).

Mobs in Cyrodiil are not all 50, the harder part mobs will be higher then that (just like in WoW).

Cyrodiil is not boosted, the mobs start at level 50 normally.

I have played PvP in level scaled areas, and it comes to 3 things, who are with you, what gear you have, do you have skills oriented to PvP. if you do PvE there, you might be alone, hardly no gear, and all skills vs PvE in mind = spanked by solo gankers easily, if you have friends with you, then its possible to fight well vs the PvPers if you have voice software in use.

PvP points from PvP kills are more then enuff reward from those kills, and i have this nibbling feeling that experience will have some kind of meaning later in game also, it wont stop at 50, so perhaps skills level up a bit faster when you cant level up anymore or some other aspects we have not heard of yet.

I don't think there should be greater rewards for PvP dungeons because that isn't fair to players who don't like to PvP.

The extra reward you get is the fun of knowing you could meet enemy players in the dungeon.

i dont think they are greater rewards, they are just different then from the other PvE dungeons.

we all know (the experienced players) that the BIS items prolly are not always from PvE side.

BIS* Best in Slot

ALSO

having different type of items, makes them wanted by crafters, remember crafters can dismantle items to learn their secrets ;)

Shouldn't be an issue hear because PvE and PvP gear is the same and because end game gear can be crafted (and is as good as lootable gear.)

true, but the scales how much different stats per piece you have differs in PvP and PvE gear.

it cant be 100% identical.

and yes, crafted gear will prolly be best that you can have, as you can improve gear with enchants and stuff.

some game styles will be geared from PvE and some from PvP, its totally dependant how you play and what class you play.

one can reason that best tank gear (non crafter) is obainable from PvP as those PvP gears prolly has more Hp then PvE gears.

The master dungeons aren't associated with the PvP dungeons. The PvP dungeons are public, the master dungeons are found only in the PvE area and are for 4 people.

It all needs to be buffed up by a crafter from what I understand. Or at least a crafter can custom buff a piece rather than being dependent on the enchantments that were on the dropped piece.

But I don't think it is about having better drops. It more about tweaking loot tables or giving other incentives to crate similar progress for time spent. People in daoc always sat and grinded to 50 in the safe zones and then went to the frontier. That to me is a certain level of disconnect that I would like to avoid. It was one of the big weak spots I found with vanilla daoc. The pve found in frontiers was rather flat and the times I got my guildmates out there the pve minded guys went berserk when we got hit in rear by some Hibs. Nobody did it because it was less efficient and we needed to be at the top of our game to represent in keep sieges.

I am hoping that the increased emphasis on viable pve in Cyrodiil (over what was present in vanilla daoc) can be backed up by an increased reward to compensate for the higher level of difficulty that area presents.

Don't like PvP so don't go to Cyrodill. PvP in eso i so much cut and you want to cut it even more. Don't ruin this game with these [censored] PvE ideas

How is having public dungeons going to ruin PvP? You can PvP in the dungeons.

Guild Wars 2 does level scaling, and anyone under level 80 that goes into the world vs world (vs world) gets bumped up to 80. There are no dungeons, but there are jump puzzles in which PVP is enabled, and it does add a bit of tension because you don't know if people from the other servers are going to ignore you or attempt to kill you. Usually people leave you alone though as there is no worth while reward for killing someone.

I went back and read every post in this thread and I honestly cant see anything related to what you are babbling about.

PVE IS already a major part of Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil is not a death match with little instanced warzones. It is a fully fleshed out section of the game world complete with NPC towns, quest hubs and public dungeons. The topic here is keeping those PvP enabled dungeons populated.

Aye,

Cyrodiil is the "battleground" and the dungeons are part of that battleground. and remember the area of Cyrodiil is huge.

The PvE aspect of the dungeons is not a problem in my opinion, it only means we can grind experience and loot while we wait for some PvP action (while levelling) but 3 sides, makes it prolly very intense in those dungeons as one needs to be on constant alert of PvP action ;)

Keeping those dungeons populated prolly means that the dungeon bosses prolly are quest related and some of the drops there must be good and or viable to be dismantled for crafting.

But i am running with a full raid everyday 20/7 while i play with stealthers securing our backside.

Glory for the Queen ! ! !
