Loot Ninja

I think what people are forgetting to mention about loot is that if you just tap a mob once and do not really contribute to the fight that your loot box will contain significantly less items and those items are like to be of far less quality then the ones who actually brought the mob(s) down in the fight. This would not be difficult to code in at all and I am sure Zenimax has thought about mob tappers and put something like this scenario into ESO for loot distribution.

i rather see that its only tradable within the group that killed the boss, that way you do have to play and raid, but you wont leave the dungeon with the same gear 10 times in a row just couse the game gives you the exact same loot everytime

You have teased the existence of veteran points. Can you elaborate on how to get them and what you can do with them? – Rowan Marward

Veteran Points are similar to XP, and your Veteran Rank goes up as you gain them (like gaining a level). You’ll get Veteran Points for accomplishing certain tasks in the game. Imagine you were told you needed to kill a specific NPC or monster in a dungeon. If you’re level 50, you’ll get Veteran Points for accomplishing that goal. When you get enough Veteran Points, you go up in Veteran Rank. There will be lots of ways to gain VP. You could gain Veteran Points in PvP or in Adventure Zones.

VRs do improve your character’s power by granting stats and the ability to equip better gear, though the increases are smaller than the ones you’ll gain through normal leveling. This will make it easier for you to visit wherever you want in the next alliance you play, and will make it easier when you’re grouping with friends who may not be as advanced as you are.

You’ll continue to gain skill points while increasing your Veteran Ranks, so it’s really a time when you’ll be able to broaden your character’s skills. We’ll release a full write-up for VPs and VRs in the near future.

Awsome, thanks! This is something I can definately live with. And it will add another form of progression, similar to Warhammer Online's Renown Rank system.

The original loot system was based more on who can grab what. Nor did you have to do any damage to loot. This was a bad design but it did work. Then came the need/greed/pass system that was more like the old pen and paper games where you rolled the dice to see who gets what loot. This system was really about the only system you could use in the pen and paper games. In MMO's it was more flawed than a poor design. But it did work as intended.

Loot has always been random, ever since the pen and paper games. And you can even go back to the old board games. Community Chest and Chance cards in Monopoly game gave each person a random card, needed or not. It worked well then and it works well now. Taking out the random loot factor then everyone just gets what they need for their skills or class and there will be less need to trade, buy or sell. Why would you even have a smithing skill since you will get everything you need as loot.

Random loot is like a Christmas or Birthday present. You might get something you need, like or even hate, its all random.

Yeah, except in the case of the loot ninja you are rushing downstairs first, Christmas morning before your brother gets there, and stealing his presents too...

The dedication to old school MMO conventions around here is actually sickening.......Think outside the box people. Everyone screams no wow clones " a term I hate because WoW ripped everything from other games" but they can't stand the thought of any kind of difference in other games coming out.
