Becoming Emperor.

Post » Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:47 am

When I first heard about the idea about emperor I was really excited.

It could be a PVPer's ultimate goal, something they can fantasize about and for the most part only dream about achieving such a milestone.

I personally will be pursuing the emperor status very rigorously. My guild's main purpose is to control the 12 keeps around the Imperial City in order for a person from our fraction to become emperor.

The only concerns I have is,

Will the PVP point system be broken? In order to become emperor you must have the most points in your faction and at the same time your faction must control all 12 keeps surrounding the Imperial City. It would be a shame if people could easily exploit the system to be on the top of the leader boards. For example, if killing some one granted a good amount of PVP points, friends from different factions could point farm and ruin the system.

The point system itself needs to be very balanced and accurate depending on the difficulty of the task. For example, if you successfully capture a keep, it should give you a significantly larger amount of PVP points compared to just killing some one.

For the average player, becoming emperor might seem impossible. However, It isn't out of reach.

Every 3 months the PVP point system resets. I suspect that the day the points reset, many guilds will attempt to capture the 12 keeps surrounding the Imperial city and there will be many people attempting to be on the top of the leader boards for that chance to be emperor.

Even if you are emperor for a short period of time, you will unlock the skill line and boast to all of your friends / guild mates.

So what do you guys think? Any of you planning on becoming the emperor? How should the point system be balanced and what measures should be taken to avoid pvp point farming?

The "average" player will never see it. only the ones who play 24/7 will have a shot, IMO.

I think I can say with some authority that whatever it is, they do not plan on its being broken, no :P

I have no intention of attempting it myself, but gl to those that want it :)

Source? And, if that's correct, when you log off, who gets it?

I'm skeptical because this doesn't sound sensible

What would make sense is that you would keep it until another faction takes the Imperial City.

Its based on score.. sure you can kill your friend enemy player and farm points (btw this happened alot in AoC... so Zenimax do something.) but I think sieges and especially capture small objectives gives you alot more score points, keeps are designed for 15 person to be captured for example. Btw, I theyve said its the last hours of the campaign what matters the most, so everybody has a shot to become one, one can play 10 hour straight but if Campaign isnt won, it doesnt matter, one can log in like 1-2 hour before the win of Campaign and become an Emperor.

Source? I don't think this is how it works. If you are the MVP (most points from your faction) and your faction controls all 12 keeps you stay the emperor UNTIL one of your 12 keeps gets stolen OR someone from your faction gets a higher PVP score than you. Please link us with a proper source about "logging out" and losing your emperor status

This is true to an extent. Of course after a few days after the points have been reset it will be nearly impossible to finally step into the campaign and expect to be the leading scorer and be lucky enough to also have your faction take the 12 keeps.

However, I guarantee you that within the first few hours of the point reset, almost everyone will be given a good opportunity to go for the emperor spot. It will not be easy, and that's how it is meant to be.

I will become the best hokage EMPEROR who ever lived, BELIEVE IT!

Also I put it here.. that night-capping is not possible but because sieges requires 15+ guys, and theres NPC so basically your entire guild guild needs to wake up if u wanna do so.

This would only be true if almost EVERYONE that PvPs logs off at the same time. Which just isn't gonna happen. All take able locations will be in flux 24/7. Plus you don't have to just PvP with your guild.

The logging out source Is probably from the "ask us anything 7" (though it's a slight missread, one that I did myself aswell)

If a player becomes Emperor and their alliance holds the keeps around the Imperial City, how will the other alliances be able to take control again if they have no point of access into Cyrodiil? Also, if the Emperor is changed when the current Emperor is killed, what is to stop a player just avoiding Cyrodiil on that character once they become Emperor? – By Mitchell Antico

Access to Cyrodiil is always available in safe locations that enemies cannot enter, so you can always fight over control of the Emperorship. If an Emperor is dethroned (meaning their alliance lost all the keeps necessary to crown an Emperor), the next time they are killed, log out, or switch zones, they lose the Emperorship. Emperorship isn’t just beneficial for the individual player, though—the entire Alliance gets a bonus if an Emperor is on their side.

In fact the way i'm reading it you get to keep your Emperor status even though you've lost control of the required keeps (at least untill a death/relogg/zone)

Ahhh... first your alliance has to lose the keeps, and THEN you have to log out, die, or zone. Got it.

That makes a lot more sense. Though it would make MORE sense if the Emperorship changed even without your doing one of those three things :P

Yes, that is basically what it is saying. You can stay Emperor, even after they take all the other keeps, as long as you don't die or log off. So, it would be best just to go hide in the forest somewhere and make sure you have something to hit your space bar every 15 minutes so you don't log off :P
