FINALLY ShadowPlay Launched

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 10:27 am

I'm currently using Handbrake to compress the Shadowplay files, cutting their bitrate down to ~3000kbps and 30fps so they're about 80-85% smaller in size.

What are other people using?

I'll have a look at Handbrake, I don't have a favorite converter (yet). I hope it has no problems with Playclaw's Fast codec, because other converters I have tried don't work well with it.

The only thing I have an issue with is the capture is at 60 FPS but my monitor is 144hz refresh rate so the recording comes out a little choppy. Will probably need to use Vsync :(

I have 144hz monitor also, and it makes no real difference to the recording. The issue is youtube. Try rendering the video to a file first before uploading to youtube. ShadowPlay is pretty awesome though, but remember its still in a beta stage so there will be some issues that need ironing out...

Don't complain or laugh at this.. Getting pretty tired of high pingers coming on AUST servers so I dusted off the rhino to show these high ping noobs the door. Recorded with shadowplay, I run a 15min buffer, edited with Pinnacle Studio 16 Ultimate

How did you get the 15 min buffer? My ShadoPlay only has the option to cycle 10 minutes. I know when they released, they said it would do 20 minutes but figured they're just doing 10 for the beta.

I have a gtx660ti.. if your gpu is smaller than this, then you can only record 10min max in shadow mode.. I can set mine to 20mins. The one thing I love about shadowplay is that you don't get unnecessary video.. just F10 for the best games or moments.. or catching annoying hackers.

I ran all my graphics settings on max to see if it makes any difference to the file size and it doesn't.. whether you use low or high settings, the size of the video is determined by the length only.

Hmmm, I have a GTX 690 so not sure why I'm only getting the 10min option....

From Nvidia..

"*In Windows 7, file size is limited to 3.8GB in manual mode, 10 minutes in Shadow Mode."

I have windows 8.1, which is why I get 20mins, and unlimited file size.

Well if you want win8, and like win7 layout.. use a program called Start8, by Stardock.. it will disable the Metro UI in windows 8 and makes it look and function exactly like win7, but with all the benefits of win8 resource management. It costs like $5.00usd, so its not even worth wasting time trying to torrent it.. plus its free updates. Win8.1 is still nothing like win7 layout either.
