Do thing stay exactly the way you left them in game?

So I am wondering if while you play the game if things stay the same.

lets say you throw a vase out a window and come back after playing the game 100 hours. Will that vase still be where you threw it out the window?

I was throwing dead bodies into the water and they all were floating away. Will they all end by the shore eventually? ( they were headed in that direction )

Just trying to see how consistent things are while playing.

It seems that way to me. Maybe there is a 'cleanup' time, but I've gone back to area's where I've dumped junk off (usually a weight problem) and those items would still be lying there.

I think it kinda depends where. Outside, I am pretty sure everything stays the same all the time. Actualy buildings you zone in to though, once they respawn, I think it's more of a reset and everything that was there disappears and then everythign respawns.

I killed a bunch of guys at a theater outside

Spoiler
they were the "pillars of the community" guys trying to get me to join them by giving them everything I own

and came back after 20 levels, they were still dead but had 2 of everything I didn't take the first time, had what I already took from them again in their invintory, and were all naked

Constants and variables, some things stay the same unless interacted with while others reset after some time.

Generally speaking, by default corpses are cleared after 72 game hours. However, in some cases the corpses could remain there "permanently" if it is in an area which is related to a quest and does not respawn. For example, the corpses of the bandits at Outpost Zimonja never disappeared after I eliminated them until recently. I cleared the outpost when I was level 18, they did not disappear until a few days ago when I was level 60.

If you move an existing indoor / outdoor object (like a vase), it's position will reset when the area respawns. However, if you place an object from your inventory indoors / outdoors, then that object will be persistent in the world until you pick it up. Note that there seems to be some type of bug when placing some items on a table shelf. Eventually those objects can be "knocked over" even if no one is around. I placed some vases in a floating room that no settler should be able to access because there are no stairs leading up to the floating room and there is a roof. Sooner or later I would see the vases on the floor of the floating room or on the ground.
