Playstation Event 7th September 2016, Slim & Pro Discuss

Why wouldn't they? They have the hardware to do so.

The only games I don't see it running at 60 FPS is multiplayer modes because in competitive gaming, the mainstay of consoles has always been that it's a level playing field hardware-wise. It's one of the biggest reasons I stopped competitive gaming on PC, because with players on the same skill level as me I would lose way more often to because they had better hardware and could run higher FPS.

No, they don't. Sandbox games are extremely taxing on all the hardware, loading and streaming data and simulating all the stuff that's going on in the world as you move wherever you please. Sure, the PS4 Pro GPU is a lot faster, but you will need a lot faster CPU too, not to mention a faster storage. The PS4 Pro still use relatively slow laptop hard drives.

The only way it would be at 1080p and 60fps would be if it looked like a PS2 game or an early PS3 game like the first Infamous. Newer and more complex games like Witcher 3 are out of the question.

Xbox will also be doing an upgraded console, and I would personally go that route if I were in the console market. Sony has always been too proprietary with their crap. For any Bethesda game fan trying to choose between the two systems, https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/ps4-mod-update/2016/09/09/199 should make the decision easier.

That is a real shame. I hate not knowing any specifics besides 1 side's claim of what the root of a failure was. Regardless of whose fault it is though, it's a real bummer.

I got a PS4 a couple of years ago when Destiny released (what a waste that was). Do you guys know of any deals they are running for upgrading? The next full purchase I will be making in consoles is an Xbox1.

No 4k tv, and I already got the original ps4 soon after it's release. So I won't get it now, but will wait for a few years for the price to drop. But dayumn, I remember how expensive everything was when I was a kid. Ps3 was really expensive, and while ps4 was less, I still payed more than the price of pro on launch. Days were never better than now to be a console peasant! Now if only those stubborn people at Sony would also give us that damn backwards compatibility. At least for ps1 and 2 games.

And not only that, consoles often now come out with a choice of a game to download with the console purchase. It's not like Mario Brothers coming with the 8 bit Nintendo, now you can actually choose.

Seriously, for both PC and console gamers, gaming has never been better or cheaper than it is now.
