I agree, make it like it was. It's completely pointless now.

YES. I would love to have the stealth field back in. I'm guessing that (in the game), the radiation from the storage area probably killed it's awesome ability. Or something like that. I don't think the suit was a so-called game-breaker because you could still give your position away and enemies could then detect you and beat the shine right out of that thing.

Since the game's broken again, why not add it in.

The game is not broken. It wasn't broken before and it isn't broken now.

Economy, broken.
Repair mechanic, broken.
Character specialization, broken.
Combat balance, broken.

I'm usually poor. Throughout the entire game. I have to exploit merchants for ammo.

Repair mechanic works just fine for me. I use Repair and Jury Rigging to fix my stuff and they do their jobs just fine.

My characters stay specialized until I hit about level 25, then I end up starting to master other skills. It takes a long time and doesn't happen accidentally.

Combat can still be painful for me sometimes. I walk around in Reinforced Leather, or the Assassin Suit, with Guns 100 and an Assault Carbine or Hunting Shotgun and if I'm not careful, I still end up dead. Even at level 30. All it takes is one misstep.

So. As far as I'm concerned, the game is not broken, it works just fine as do all the mechanics in it.

Okay, broken for some people, me included.

I see this thread has also devolved into moaning. :(

There are many ways that this armor could be altered slightly to make it more stealth-suit like.
Right now it is fairly pointless compared to the assassins suit. Apart from it looking pretty awesome I guess.

It could use up EW ammo,
it could require its own perk
It could even only operate under stealth mode as long as its condition is above 90%..

It doesn't have to be game-breaking to have some of its unique/coolness status restored.

IMO, it should be like one of these 2 possibilities:

1. Make it so it only creates a stealth field while you are crouching -and- staying still

2. Make it take up AP like i've seen things on mods do.

Didnt the stealthboy come from the suit design?
I dont agree with doom, the chinese perfected it. Thats somethng the americans couldnt. It was the chinese awnser to Power armour.

There is no answer to pa son. It was a nice suit, I used it and a steath boy in megaton to kill Confesser Cromwell < the atom bomb guy. Thats the only time I used it..........

Are we talking about the assassin suit from DM, or is there actually something called Chinese Stealth Armour in fo nv that does not go stealth? The assassin suit is not CSA, to me it was there to give you +10 in sneak.

You can add the stealth ability to the suit with mods, at newvegasnexus, actually with the stealth ability in FO3, it was way too easy, probably that's why they disabled it.
But still I vote for yes, it should be special as it was in FO3

true, but for those that are on the console, mods are not an option.

It was cheating in Fallout 3. Not quite "100% Chameleon" cheating, but pretty close. I like the way Project Nevada makes it work (the same way as FWE did for Fallout3): it can only be in Stealth mode for a limited time, needs time to recharge and consumes energy cells while stealthed. Works pretty nicely.

I never found it to be cheating, especially when they were being used against me in OA. !00% chameleon spells in oblivion on the other hand were definitely cheating. I found sneaking in Fallout 3 (even with the CSA equipped) a far more rewarding experience than that of Oblivion.

I think the NV Stealth Armor should have at least more effect on your sneak. +5..... is low for a suit supposedly designed for stealth. Assassin Suit gives +10 and has better DT.

Taking up AP or EC/MFC/ECPs for the stealth field are both great ideas. Although, lore-wise, I believe it was perfected to the point where it would not require these things. For the sake of balance, though, I suggest using one of the aforementioned tweaks to the armor.

It was arguably overpowered but it's just silly to introduce it crippled and ruining the cannon .They could of put it in the deathclaw promontory instead of the power armor with the stealth field .

Heh, and have the deathclaws similar to the nightstalkers near jacobstown?

Deathclaw nibbles on the stealth armor, mutates, has stealth deathclaw babies!!

Arghhhh!! :shocking:
