Why in gods name cant i keep playing after the ending

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:54 am

The game informs you when you are nearing the end so I want the ending to stand. Fallout 3 only added Broken Steel as the ending if you had any companions was stupid and what they did made it somewhat worse overriding that important decision the game forced you to make.

This is why I say give it two possible endings.....One choice you live and go on or the other you die and the game ends, just an example.

They are working on DLC, so they get more money.

much like a good novel, it needs to end at some point. And please don't compromise the main story so people can max out to level 30.........

I havnt got to the ending yet, as im working on the other stuff and loving the world :) (massive thanks to all the hard work that has gone into making a Fallout game that reminds me of 1 and 2) but hopefully some of the DLC will allow maybe a different route to the end, one in which the game continues, like a branch in a tree...

Route 1 - As it is now, with the game ending.

Route 2 - As it is now upto the "strip" and then a different set of quests / things to do, that send you in a different direction, but allow you to continue, as these arnt (end game stuff)?

Or maybe as im luckly and play on the PC, it wont be long before one of the modders gets around the issue, much like they did with F3, and give us the openended world some of us want?

Because the ending causes huge changes in the game world.

The problem with Broken Steel is that it makes way too few changes to the DC wasteland. There was all this talk about how Project Purity was going to make the wasteland better but after it's finished, only two towns even acknowledge that there is a change. Heck, even the water beggars are still there.

Maybe then they should have thought about how they were going to end it and have two ways to go on the last quest.

Or maybe (I haven't gotten there yet) they have a good story with an ending that makes sense, and why should they screw with that, just because some small subset of people can't grasp the obviousness of "reload your last save".

I get to the highest level, and do all the side quests before I finish the main story. I've done the first couple of MQ missions, I've made it to the strip for the MQ, met Mr. House and all of that. I usually do a lot of exploring, and stealing, then do side missions, then do a MQ mission, then lots more side quests, then another MQ mission. There is plenty enough to do, see, collect, and reach level 30 before you have to finish the main quest. If you didn't accomplish any of that before you finished the game then reload your last save and get your butt out there and help out those in need in the Mojave Wasteland.

I take back what I said, the MOD (for PC owners of the game) is available, lets you continue playing after completing main quest line :)

But I do sort of understand where they are coming from, as Fallout is a massive game, that is loved by millions of us, so DLC can and will make the game better (and them some more cash!) :) - Which isnt a bad thing, as we all want Fallout 4 one day, and hopefully Fallout Online :)

This.

The impact you have is huge and the affects varied. There's no way they could (easily) develop a post-game that incorporated all the possibilities.

I'm okay with a definitive ending. I wasn't okay with FO3's ending because... seriously... sacrifice? Give me a break. But I'm okay with this one. I hope they don't change it with DLC.

So far, I am loving this game. I've only had a few freezes and some graphical glitches but I learned a long, long time ago to savesavesavesavesavesavesave.

I saved before i told the colonel to start the war. And i had like 12 perfect condition hunting rifles, super sledges, and marksman carbines. I ranked up 3 times during the ending sequence too. And why is the value of the Blade of the East only 45? lol. Now, I think you should have been able to continue on with your adventures from the gate of the Legate Camp, anyone else?

Yes, yes and thrice yes.

and hopefully Fallout Online

Good god no! For the love of all that you hold sacred, please, please, please do not try to make an online version of Fallout. Multiplayer in any way shape or form is just not the Fallout way.

The only way I think multiplayer would work, and how I would like it, is that in place of a companion, you could work with a xbox live friend. But, V.A.T.S. wouldn't be able to work.

There is a Fallout online is the works http://www.fallout-on-line.com/ fyi.

It was easy to get level 30 in fallout 3 without doing one bit of DLC. All I had to do was explore every bit of the game, before completing it. The world in FO3 felt pretty static apart from the influence the player had, so I had no reason to continue playing after completing the quests. 80ish hours on one character is enough.

But V.A.T.S could work, it dosnt have to be a PvP multiplayer world, look at say LOTRO where the PvP (or PvM!) is done within a seperate area? But this isnt the topic to talk about the possible Online Fallout - I feel a new topis coming on! lol - but if you are interested in the multiplayer side google is your friend :)

I honestly never get this argument, being peeved over a game that has a definitive ending. Most games - particularly most RPGs - do. Bethesda obviously specializes in huge, roam-able game worlds, so the questing is part of that, not the entire purpose of it, hence the game does not end after the MQ (usually. I know it did in FO3, which I did not have a problem with, since they told everyone it would end long before the game was released).
FONV was developed by Obsidian. It's a game that tells a story and it has an ending. If you like it tons, replay it. Or put off the latter parts of the MQ.

Uuummm because its the end.
I could fully understand the complaint if there was some timer forcing you to get the main quest done, but there isnt so the only driving force behind you finishing the game before you explored every where was yourself.
Go and explore instead of doing the main quest line, there are plenty of side quests to do if you need some task to do while exploring.
