Why in gods name cant i keep playing after the ending

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:22 am

Just like fallout 3, the credits roll and I have to start over from the beginning. I got all this cool stuff at the very end just before the last fight, you get 4k experience for completing the final quest and then the credits roll. Whats the point of giving me that xp and all that loot from the NCR troopers then force you to replay with nothing. Oblivion was nice enough to let you keep playing.

Bethesda, please release a patch to let us keep playing.

It was known for a while. That's why I've been avoiding the main quest since arriving in New Vegas.

I suppose. So...the special item you get for completing on hardcoe mode is just the trophy or gamer points?

The ending is supose to be so that it would be impossible to continue playing. Fallout 3 was a misstake but here it is supose to be for the sake of the ending not getting dumbed down.
The question is, whats more importaint: and epic grand ending or being able to continue playing after the end?

Yes. It's just an achievement.

(My opinions - no, I don't want to see a "Broken Steel" for this game; yes, I'm ok with it having an End; FO3's problem wasn't that it ended, but that it ended stupidly.)

I tend to agree. Whats the point of getting those rewards if the game ends? It should at least ask you if you would like to continue to roam or end it there.

I really don't see the harm in having the option to continue, people would play the game longer.

Like Civ games, I'd love the option for "Just one more turn...".

Let the credits roll then ask if you want to continue or not. That doesn't effect anyone who wants a definitive end to their experience. Options are good.

Don't lie people. Walking around slaying foes on the strip with the Amazing Legate's Helmet and Sword of the East would be fun. I like the defined exit. But if a DLC is imminent, I do believe it will "Broken Steel" the game. At least hopefully it will.

But in that case the continuing roaming would have to take place before the ending ignoring what happened in the end and that would make people just as angry.

Please let the Devs of Bethesda and Obsidian know I have a solution to the problem and it is simple, This will make everyone who likes it to end and those who don't happy. Put a pop up screen when the Main Quest ends like this,

[Start New Game]
[Load Game]
[End Game]
[Keep Exploring]

With these options all the players are happy then???

All these options about skills and endings should be a players choice but not anymore with all the game companies constantly dumbing down games as they have been doing the last few years in different ways. Instead of giving us the choices, they take them away and give us their choice on how the games should be played by their rules. If a person wants to keep exploring or wants all skills and jack of all trades then it should be the players business after paying money for the games and not the game companies choice, just my opinion of course.

I'm a fan of New Game+ myself. Let me finish the game and either take my new rewards and start over (I'm not opposed to stashing awesome gear until i get high enough use it) or carry on with the same guy and boost the difficult immensely, like make me want to smash my face against the wall at points hard. Or maybe if you are going to let us continue around after the game is dine, toss us a couple quests that need the MQ finished first, kind of kills the point to having the MQ be the MQ and the "end" of the game, but it would be something.

I just prefer that once a game ends, it ends. I will say that like DieScream said, the one more turn in Civ is great, but for me Civ is the exception to the rule for me. Lookie, my hypocrisy knows no bounds today.

Edit - Warghoul got in while I posted, I think that would do fine.

Would that really have made people happy?

Yes, because it gives the players on both sides of this fence the option instead of the game company making the choice for us as usual.

Why not just reload just before you start the last quest? I heard the ending wouldn't make any sense if you were able to play on after the main quest.

Maybe then they should have thought about how they were going to end it and have two ways to go on the last quest. All I am really trying to say is give both types of players the option to end or not, so everyone is happy. I can deal with the game either way myself. I am not a Casual or hardcoe type gamer. I believe in everything having some balance between the choices of different types of gaming.

True.. I don't mind this game having a ending, but I do see why people would want to play on.

The game informs you when you are nearing the end so I want the ending to stand. Fallout 3 only added Broken Steel as the ending if you had any companions was stupid and what they did made it somewhat worse overriding that important decision the game forced you to make.
