Hey! I'm currently playing World of Warcraft and have done so for quite some time. I'm considering switching to the Elder Scroll Online should it be fun enough, at least momentarily. Even thought there are many aspects to a games, especially an MMO, I'm primarily focused on the combat before going more in-depth because if the combat is boring everything else will become irrelevant eventually. I really enjoy abilities that affect things on a grand scale. Not necessarily abilities that specifically were designed to deal damage because those kind of things are nothing new. Despite the fact that they're fun, they're not enough to catch me interest. I'm not really sure how to express myself so I'll explain what some World of Warcraft abilities of this sort do and I'll go from there.
- Gorefiend's Grasp - Shadowy tendrils coil around all enemies within 20 yards of a target (hostile or friendly), pulling them to the target's location.
- Solar Beam - You summon a beam of solar light over an enemy target's location, interrupting the target and silencing all enemies under the beam while it is active. Solar Beam lasts for 8 sec.
- Ursol's Vortex - Conjures a vortex of wind at the destination location that reduces the movement speed of all enemies within 8 yards by 50%. The first time an enemy attempts to leave the vortex, winds will pull that enemy back to its center.
- Shadowfury - Shadowfury is unleashed, stunning all enemies within 8 yds for 3 sec.
- Anti-Magic Zone - Places a large, stationary Anti-Magic Zone that reduces spell damage done to party or raid members inside it by 75%. The Anti-Magic Zone lasts for 10 sec or until it absorbs at least 136800+(($STR * 4)) spell damage.
Ring OF Frost - Summons a Ring of Frost at the target location. Enemies entering the ring will become frozen for 10 sec. Lasts 10 sec. 10 yd radius. Limit 10 targets.
So, my question will there be any sort of abilities that behave similarly to those above? Obviously I don't want the exact same combat but I hope you know what I mean. I just love having abilities that might be less effective when used on one enemy alone but being insane vs. many. I just don't want to feel like a little nobody when I fight multiple enemies. I want to be a force to be reckoned with no matter the situation. The main issue with this kind of combat is that things often turn out to be overpowered but they can be really fun!
So does anyone have any comment on the content of my thread. What do you think. Is it good, is it bad?
