A lot of quest items appear as stolen in your inventory, even though they were given to you by an NPC. It's still a funny little quest though, including all the 'subtle' references :)

OMFG, I was saying "...and my discretion." right before he did. :tongue: It was kinda' hilarious actually because when I went up to him the way I stopped I wasn't facing him - I was kinda' standing next to him looking past him like it was a discreet drug deal. :lol: Umm...well...like I've seen in the movies. :whistling:

OK then. In a similar situation I have some Alchemy ingredients that are red in my Alchemy chest in one of my houses. I may have accidentally stolen some of them, but not as many as are displayed red...maybe they were given to me as well. :ph34r: :tongue:
