"[Alchemy]PowerMod" Vs "[Alchemy]Mod"?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:41 am

Hi,

I work a lot on new spells and so I made a lot new magic effects. But there is one thing, I can't figure out:

If you choose the effect archetyp "Peak Value Modifier", "Value Modifier" or "Dual Value Modifier" in a magic effect, you have to choose one (or two) associated items, which are modified through this effect. For every skill you find three entries of those, f.e.:

- AlterationMod
- AlterationPowerMod
- AlterationSkillAdvance
or
- AlchemyMod
- AlchemyPowerMod
- AlchemySkillAdvance
and so on.

But what is the difference between the three of them? Especially between "[...]Mod" and "[...]PowerMod"?

Thanks!

look at the skill buffing alch-xyz magic effects for a description of the PowerMods

I believe AlterationMod, AlchemyMod, etc. will just give a straight buff to the skill (e.g. a magnitude of 20 will give you +20 for that skills skill level) though I've never used those, so don't be surprised if I'm wrong

no idea what SkillAdvance does, but if I took a wild guess: buffs the skill advancement rate

if you end up testing them post your results as I'd be interested in some info

For most skills, xMod is a flat bonus to the skill, xPowerMod is a multiplier. For the five casting skills, xMod is a percent subtracted from the cost of the spell, xPowerMod is a multiplier on the spell magnitudes. Magnitudes are:

- Damage for Destruction
- Level Cap effects for Illusion
- Healing for Restoration (no effect on Turn Undead effects)
- Duration for Alteration
- Duration for Conjuration
