I've placed my preorder of skyrim (PC) months ago. Now i have been told by my shop that somethig went wrong and they did not receive any copies yet. And they don't know when to expect the delivery. I did some search on internet and found out a lot of shops are out of stock!!!

Which continent do you live on? Some areas of the world might be harder for Skyrim to ship to.

You know that 3.5 million people bought the game in 48 hours so it's not like every store knows how many copies they would have needed but I would be telling them to get ahold of there supplier asap.

Just another reason to purchase digital copy. I have no idea why people still bother with DVDs, do you like boxes and paper manuals?

I love boxes and paper manuals, seriously when I buy digital stuff I feel like it's less of a purchase without a physical box.

Because I can install the game and not have to wait for a download. As much as a good service as Steam provides, it svcks having to download the game again if for some reason the back-up and install gets corrupted. I can load the game anytime I want. Also, I can look at the neat map that came with the DVD, whereas I have to scroll side to side to look at it on my PC. And, as an added bonus, when I bought it from Target, I got a $10 card to use with any future pruchase from target. So, if I purchase another game (or whatever) I just saved some money. So, in a sense, I got the game for $10 less than everyone else. IMO, hard copies are the way to go. Besides saving time on downloads, the hard copies save on drive space for back-ups.

Just don't lose your CD key or DVD 3 years from now. Took me 30 minutes to download Skyrim and often you can pre-download a game and play it at 12am of a release date. Maps and manuals are nice in paper, but not going anywhere to pick up a game, playing it as soon as it's out and not worrying about losing CD keys is a plus.

I pre-ordered from Gamestop, instore pickup locally. Was out of town until the 13th and didn't want to have the game sitting in my mailbox while away.

So I show up at the store, wait 20 mins while they search for it in the back..and couldn't find it. They offered some nonsense about calling me back when they found it and giving a 10% a discount. Needless to say I canceled my pre-order and bought the digital version through Steam 10 mins later. The burlap map would have been nice, but playing the game was more important to me in the end.

TLDR get it from Steam, if you can.

Regional managers underordered for their stores. It is their fault, and has nothing to do with Bethesda.

If you need 100 pounds of gravel for your backyard, and only order 50, do you blame the gravel company? No. It's your fault for underordering, they delivered what you asked for.
