Prior to December 11, 2010 I had no idea within less than a year I would be playing the next Elder Scrolls installment. And once that announcement was made I always had in the back of my mind the game getting pushed back into 2012. I started visiting the forums regularly in Feb 2011 and have witnessed a somewhat pessimistic forum slowly transform into a more unified group of excited gamers as each new tidbit of Skyrim was announced. While I plan on modding Skyrim it appears to me it will need less essential mods as you have seemed to take cue from the modding community and put popular mods from Morrowind and Oblivion into vanilla Skyrim. Making it easier on PC gamers and also benefitting the console gamers. While building gameplay from scratch for the new game you seem to have also carried over some strengths from Morrowind and Oblivion. From what I have read and heard I have few doubts Skyrim will eclipse most other games for me for months to come.
Well here we are just a few days before Skryim gets unleashed on the world. And I am still surprised there was no push back on the release date. No slight to Bethesda, I just have come to expect delays on great games. But you have done it. Quite well actually. I wish other games had such a smooth build up to a launch. Though I will admit 11 months for such an anticipated game is still a bit painful.
As of this writing I am enjoying a fine margarita and preloading on Steam. Life is good, and looking forward to 11-11-11.
Congrats Bethesda. I hope the entire company can enjoy some well earned rewards and down time in a few months once the release has calmed down. Then get back to work making some kick ass games.
