After my son bought and installed Skyrim, I wanted to do some gaming too. After I started Skyrim, I saw that it was running in English and I changed the language to german with starting the steam program, right-klicked Sykrim and so on.
After changing the language, I started Skyrim again and received the message that SkyrimLauncher could not be found.
Then I started "verify integrity of game cache" and indeed the program was starting do download something. And this took hours ... and hours ... and hours. In the end more than one day. (I have a 12 Megabit dsl connection)
After that it was running again, but again in english.
After some testing and real long downloading I found that everytime I change the language, two files are missing afterwards. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Skyrim_default.ini and SkyrimLauncher.exe.
So I thought it would be a good idea to make a Backup of this files before changing the language. After changing the language, the files were indeed gone and I recovered them from the backup.
In the Skyrim_default.ini I changed the line: sLanguage=ENGLISH to sLanguage=GERMAN which I thought that could do the trick. Skyrim was starting up to the first language dependent Menue and crashed.
I tried sLanguage=DEUTSCH, same result. Changed back to sLanguage=ENGLISH with the same result. Restored the original Skyrim_default.ini with the same result. Skyrim won't start anymore.
I definitly won't start another eight hours (at least) download.
Any Ideas how to get that **beep** Program running?
Best Regards
Ron
