Problem with the Quest Under Saarthal

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 11:04 am

In the quest under Saarthal for the college of Winterhold quest line, you go to an archaeological dig site. Whilst there you get stuck in a trap and the only way to get out is to blow up one of the walls with an amulet that supercharges your spells. Only problem is when my spell comes in contact with the wall, the game stops responding. What should I do?

EDIT: I fixed it! You type TCL in console, go behind the wall, turn off TCL, and then hit the wall with some magic from the backside.

It's a bug :

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Bugs_(Skyrim)

- For PC, at the beginning of the Saarthal quest "Under Saarthal" the player will become trapped in a small area. To continue the quest, the wall from which the player took the Amulet of Saarthal must be destroyed. When the players tries to do so, the game will crash.

Wait for a patch :/ I feel you, right now there's a Main Quest bug (something that's got to do with Esbern, but I won't spoil it for you) and I can't continue the main quest :( Waiting patiently for next patch!

Try TCL. It will allow you to move through walls.

Yup, that's exactly what I did, and guess what? It worked! You do TCL, go behind the wall, turn off TCL, and then hit the wall from the backside. There's no quest issues and the game doesn't crash! :D

oK.....did the TCL thing, cant figure out how to make the quest "work". If I do anything to the wall, instant freeze and have to Ctrl-Alt-Del. Ugh.

Did you do exactly what I said? You type TCL into console, go behind the wall, disable TCL, get right up to the wall, hit it with destruction, and type showracemenu into the console for good measure!
EDIT: You can also try this, when you go to the wall go right into the corner of the wall and the adjacent wall, and with your crosshair pointed away from the main part of the breakable wall, fire off the destruction in such a way that it hits the edge of the breakable wall.

Did this at an angle with the spark spell. Worked great. Thx
