Problems with facetintbody mismatch

Post » Thu Feb 28, 2013 8:13 am

I'm having some problems with the facetint on certain NPCs (Specifically Jordis and Serana) not matching the UNP body color. I downloaded retextures for each of these and then made some small changes myself in the CK to the esps (changed serana's race to nordvampire to give her fangs for instance), and the result seems to be that the facetint won't match up to the UNP body tint.

Now, I tried the setnpcweight fix, and it seems to actually solve the problem, HOWEVER if I fast travel, the game resets the facetint back to the wrong setting. I'm not sure what else to try at this point, as I've done everything I can think of with the CK such as exporting the facegendata from my custom ESP (in my limited knowledge) and tried various mods to see if some sort of neckseam fixer would solve the issue. No luck.

I was thinking maybe it was a load order issue, but even with all of my other mods turned off like coverwomen, the issue still exists.

Has anyone else run across this or have any idea what the issue might be and/or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: further investigation shows that its an issue only with NPCs that are vampirerace (Ysolda had no issue, turned her into a vampire and bam-same problem). I have no idea how to fix it though. any advice is appreciated.

It's a bug. In the CK, open your mod(s), then select each problem NPC and hit CTRL + F4 to export face data for them.

That was the first thing I tried, It doesn't have any effect. As I mentioned, its only with vampires apparently.

For future reference, the facetinting is not a bug, it's simply how the system works now. In previous games the data was saved into the esp/esm, now it's exported alongside it. Skyrim has exported meshes/textures in the BSAs as well. Not a bug, just a new/different functionality.

When you export the facegen data in the CK, make sure you've loaded ALL plugins that alter their bodies/faces, that way it can generate the most accurate files.

Unless I'm missing something, I did. I loaded Skyrim.esm, Dawnguard.esm and my ESP (serana 1.3 custom.esp) and exported. There's no effect. The only thing I've tried that works at all is the setnpcweight and thats only temporary.

i did however just find this thread which is the exact problem I'm having. A lot of the technical commentary is above my CK level of ability tho.

Whoops forgot to link the thread : http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/759432-vampire-head-discoloration-doesnt-match-body/page-2

I thought the explanation for this originally came in a bug fix posting from the CK wiki. Also, I thought the bug was that CTRL+F4 has to be used to force the export, otherwise it won't happen?

But that's all just semantics.

We originally thought it was a bug, much like the whole SEQ/dialogue thing, but as far as I understand it now that's just how it works. When else would the export automatically happen? You only need to do it at very specific times, so anywhere else and it would be constantly wasting your time.
