PS3 broke after 30 min of Skyrim

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:36 am

Well... I was playing Skyrim, doing the gold claw quest.. Went to save the game and it froze and these weird lines came up. Now when I try to turn on my PS the lines just appear.. Sometimes it just doesn't come on. I tried it on SD and HD on 3 TV's and it didn't work on any of them. Never had a problem with this PS (80GB FAT) freezing before, but on Skyrim I froze once then again during that quest. Does anyone know if it's YLOD? Did skyrim K.O. my PS3? :( I was waiting for Skyrim for so long.. Play it for 30 min and it dies. :(

Ugh! That bites bro. I haven't gotten the game (later today) so Idk if it has ANYTHING to do with the game, but I got the YLoD back in 2010 I think and re-applying thermal paste fixed the problem. Maybe this is similar to the YLoD?

From the looks of it, your PS3 didn't die, it just got svcked into the Matrix.

I doubt it was Skyrim though. It's possible it was on it's last legs to begin with, and this was just the final straw though. I've got a 60gb launch model and the fan hasn't even kicked up to the second stage yet while playing. Not like Fallout 3, where it'd be screaming like a jet engine half an hour in.

If it makes you feel better, my Slim PS3 model imploded after about 3 hours of Fallout: New Vegas. Since then, I've invested in the 2 year Sony Replacement Program extension available on the Store.

Sorry to hear that happened. You'll definitely want to reach out to PlayStation support.
