PS3 Skyrim users not happy?

Post » Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:00 pm

Please, if you read the below and decide to hate on me, take it somewhere else. I am just posting this topic in the hops that the Bethesda staff might have a look at it (as small as the odds may be). If your a PS3 user, or even a PC or Xbox360 user with similar views, feel free to comment.

Bethesda,

I have been a huge fan of you from the beginning, and an Elder Scrolls fan since Morrowind. I have played your Fallout games and look forward to buying Dishonored. I’ve always supported you, and greatly enjoy your games. But my heart has always been set on the Elder Scrolls world that we all love, and most of the PS3 users have recently had doubts to exactly how much you care about your fans and buyers.

I am a huge fan of you, as I have already stated. And I hardly ever said anything against you (I mean, who hasn't, in their moments of rage?)

But, and I think I speak for all PS3 users here, I’ve been waiting for about 2 MONTHS for Dawnguard. And, believe me, I have tried to be patient. I know you guys keep saying that you are dealing with technical problems, and are trying to make it ‘less buggy’ so we don’t have problems, and I respect that, but at least some NEWS would be appreciated. You have been stone cold-silent to us ever since it was released to PC, and we are all at the edge of our seats every day hoping you’ll make SOME announcement. But nothing ever came.

Then you go ahead and announce Hearthfire (which, by the way, looks great). Xbox360 will be getting it September 4th, and I get that, because of the 1 Month-exclusive deal. But then what? Will we have to wait 2+ months again.

I, personally, do not think so. Though recently with Bethesda I don’t know what to think. Hearthfire is much smaller than Dawnguard so it should have A LOT less bugs. So I’m sure (hoping, actually) you will release it to PS3 around the same time as for PC.

HOWEVER, I think that by giving Dawnguard FREE with Hearthfire, as the rumors have been lately, I think that will calm down a lot of PS3 users and give you more support from them. You know what, I wouldn’t even mind if you gave HEARTHFIRE free with Dawnguard, instead of vice-versa. In fact, I would be ECSTATIC, as all the other PS3 Skyrim users would be, I'm sure.

Most of my friends have sworn that they won’t touch another Bethesda game ever again. I, however, will just wait. Though if some news does not come out about Dawnguard for PS3 over the course of next week or so, I fear I’ll just have to go out and buy Skyrim on my Xbox, and ruin all the hard work I’ve put into it so far for the PS3.

I hope you take these opinions into consideration, and possibly find the time to reply. All PS3 users who are still loyal to you are counting on you.

Thanks, Hashim

I'm curious, wasn't it Sony that rejected it to begin with?

No, they've never submitted it for certification because it was Bethesda's unsatisfaction.

btw, I think the other way around would be more likely, if at all. Both unlikely though. Why would they show us any type of benefit for their own mistakes when they can just charge us full price anyways for something that is old and well past the date of normal price drop for games and dlc? That just wouldn't make any sort of sense (to Bethesda).

I've only played the game on my PS3 so far and I would like the DLCs now but truth be told I still play the game on a regular basis. Sure step away and fiddle around with other games, but when the DLCs come out I'm sure I'll stop what I'm doing and put skyrim in. My point is just makes sure it works when it comes out, I'm not worried about when its going to get here because I have other things I can do.

I believe so. I've read from several sources that Sony has a strict policy. After content is submitted, it's tested and retested before it's allowed on the network. If it's found lacking or doesnt match standards, it's most likely sent back to the developers. Then the process begins again. There is no way to know who the fault lies with. I recommend accepting the fact you purchased a ps3, and all that entails. It will get here, Bethesda has been good to it's gamers. I'm sure there is a logical explanation and it has more to do with business models and current practices than Bethesda hating the ps3 fans.

Sir, your complaints are not important for anyone. Soon a thread locker will redirect you to the "do not click this thread" thread if you work for Beth. If you are willing to give them money for nothing they'll be happy to accommodate you

The testing must have found something pretty big b/c the tests are the same for 360 vs. PS3. Different OS yes, but same gaming tests apply.

But those who have rinsed the game dry would ADORE some more content. I am a level 74 on Skyrim, so the game will naturally get boring. But with new content, new locations to explore, new spells to learn and use, new weapons to try out. Things that a PS3 user will have to wait forever to try out. I don't play Skyrim as much as I used to, because I've located most of the locations, cleared them, became rich, bought a mansion in Solitude.... I've done pretty much as much as what can be done. But with the DLC, a whole lot more lore and options come into the game. With at least 17+ extra hours of gameplay.

You are wasting your time if bethesda cared about their fans they would have designed the game to work equally well on all platforms.
I would be shocked if the all mighty bethesda could come down from their ill gotten throne and be honest with their fans, just say you screwed up bethesda!
you took your fans for granted.

bethesda does not deserve fans as loyal as you.

Hmm, what in the world is going on with it? Are they not able to make it work correctly for the PS3 or something?

Everyone has been asking for this, and they've remained pretty tight-lipped about it. All they say is "Performance". If they would just explain WHAT ABOUT the performance was unsatisfactory, without even going into the details, it would probably appease a lot of people. Even more so, maybe giving an update on the progress (even if none at all), would help too. Just a simple statement saying "Hey, we've made some progress and improvement in such and such area, but it's still not good enough" would be awesome.

Again though, their lips remain sealed and just continue to snub part of their fanbase.

It will get here, Bethesda has been good to it's gamers. I'm sure there is a logical explanation and it has more to do with business models and current practices than Bethesda hating the ps3 fans.

No, they really haven't been that good with PS3 gamers.

- held out a bunch of Oblivion DLC on PS3
- refused to fix multiple issues with Fallout3 and New Vegas on PS3
- released the worst version of any Elder Scrolls game on PS3, without giving any copy to reviews to give a real review about
- patched the PS3 version in ways that made things worse or cut away some of the biggest appealing graphics parts of the game
- gave us horse combat at the sacrifice of FPS...whoopty do
- continue to not communicate with the consumers about anything

I'm not saying they hate PS3 fans, they simply do not care. And not one person from Bethesda has denied this, though have denied that they don't hate us.

This is exactly whats happening. At the moment, Dawnguard is too buggy and broken to be released on the PS3.

Honestly, Hearthfire shouldn't be that hard to get on the PS3, as it seems its a much smaller DLC and therefore less likely to be riddled with bugs (although the soonest PS3 players will see it will be Oct. 4th, due to the deal Bethesda made with Microsoft. The best I could see Bethesda doing for PS3 players is giving them Hearthfire free with Dawnguard, but even then I don't think they would. Afterall, its not reall Bethesda's fault Dawnguard hasn't made it to the PS3 yet, as I'm sure they have fixing Dawnguard for the PS3 as one of their highest priorieties at the moment.

You don't understand. I'm sure that most PS3 Skyrim users would not mind waiting however long is necessary if Bethesda actually TOLD us what was going on. All they say is 'performance issues'. We have been waiting for 10 MONTHS for a DLC. They don't even have to go into details. Just say what is the problem, how long it should take to repair, and be done with it! But, despite the protests of so many fans, they remain firm and shut.

I understand what your saying because I've done the same thing as you, short of getting one character to level 74 but I have raised at least 10 to level 60 with the highest getting around 68. I've milked the game dry months ago so I walk away but its never really long before I want to play again and get back on that wagon of prisoners. I will be very happy when the DLC gets here but that not to say I'm not happy with the game now.

Lastly just point out that games don't get old for me when I've 100% them, I still play many genesis and PSone games I could complete in my sleep because I can still find fun in them.

It isn't their fault? How so, because they won't accept responsibility for a product they're releasing? I'm not calling you so, but this statement is pretty ignorant.

I hear you on this. I still play SMS games, though I use an emulator. The original Phantasy Star >>>>>>>>> Final Fantasy.

Complete transparency would be nice. I don't see it ever happening. No game company does that to my knowledge. We will only know what they feel like sharing with us. I don't find it worth the time to worry about what problem they are having, its not here so we know there is one. We can't do anything (coding, research, anything that would help speed it up) them fix it.

I agree with you, after a few weeks or months or so, you will eventually go back to it. But the game never really presents a challenge anymore. And redoing it all with another character too many times can get a bit boring too, as you know the storyline.

But I agree with you, I sometimes do go back to the main game. But while I'm stuck going on rubbish assassinations and killing stupid farmers for the Dark Brotherhood, Xbox360 users are talking with Snow Elves and killing Dragons with the legendary Auriel's Bow..... it can get you pretty mad.

And now Hearthfire will be released without even a SHRED of news for the PS3 users who are still waiting for the first DLC... what's that about?

As a PS3 player, I agree largely with the OP. I continue to be a HUGE fan of Bethesda and of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises. I understand the benefit of an exclusive DLC arrangement for both Bethesda as a publisher, Microsoft as a console maker, and the players who game on the XBox 360 console. I also understand the need to hold back the Dawnguard DLC until the version for the PS3 is stable enough that it doesn't crash like a Daewoo into a semi truck, the day it gets released. I totally get that.

What I don't get is why we need to be kept in the dark about how the developers are progressing with the Dawnguard DLC for the PS3. In this day and age where communication means everything and the channels of communication are open and largely free, there's really no excuse, to continue keeping us PS3 players in the dark about the progress of the DLC. I think any news even if it's just a reassurance that "we are working on it and we are doing our best" would be great IMHO. The following article mirrors many of my points:
