Ps3 Texture pop-ins

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 2:24 pm

Hi.
As stated, when will the issue of the texture pop-ins be adressed? Or even acknowledged by developers?I find it very ironic that Developers have stated that "Rage uses every core to avoid texture pop-ins" and then the isssue is horrendous for a triple A game.

Looking forward to a resolution and some clarity on the matter from official sources.

The developer addressed this issue long before the game was ever released . Commack talked about it at Quake con . Do a little research before asking stupid questions .

Or you could stop being a d0uch3 and try to be helpful if anything. Before you make stupid comments, maybe you should get the names right...it's Carmack, not Commack.

As far as the OP's question: I haven't seen or heard anything yet, but it sounds like the best bet would be Sony releasing a fix that would allow for the full 20GB+ install on the PS3 instead of limiting it to the 8GB install.

No sadly it doesn't look like they will make a patch. They haven't made an official statement saying they wont fix it, but judging from Carmack's words at Quakecon and one twitter response he made, It seems like this is an issue they knew about before release and just can't fix because of limitations in the PS3 hardware.

Maybe if Sony let them have a full install they can make it better, but as for now it doesn't seem like this is going to get fixed...

I'm sick of listening to all the whining. This Problem is really pretty minor. It doesn't ruin the game by any wild stretch of the imagination. How many other games out there deliver 60 frames per second, With this level of detail, on a console. I'm sure if the developers had anything more to say about this, They would be saying something by now. I'll bet they're sick of talking about this issue; As well as tired listening to all you whinny [censored]es that don't appreciate the hard work that went into this game; and frustrated dealing with an inflexible sony.

The problem is not pretty minor when you move the stick and inch and the textures have to reload, i call that major and does this game really need to be 60fps its not a fast response twitch shooter by any stretch of the imagination. I would rather have 30fps and no texture pop in. The real issue is not limitations with the hardware the devs need to program for the machines not outside of the limits.

....If you're "sick of the whining" why are you the only one doing it? The OP asked a fair and poignant question. The graphics in this game are fantastic...but they need to keep up with the player.

A patch can only do so much. What are they supposed to do, rework the whole game dumbing down the graphics everywhere. At this stage, I put more of the blame on Sony for limiting the install to 8GB. Why can't we do a full install? It's stupid how Sony limits it. What does it matter to them how much space it takes up on the hard drive?

I am a daily reader of Eurogamer and Digital Foundry, i also read Kotaku and RPS on a daily basis. I feel that i am well informed regarding games in general. Nowhere was i able to fathom to what great extent the popins were present.

Of course i can live with the horrible popins,it isnt as if my house is on fire.

Regarding Mr Id's statement about Sony, surely they knew that going into development?Pointing it out AFTER the game has been slated for release on said system seems a little bit odd.

The facts were there, develop accordingly? I do not presume to know anything about gamecoding or developing a triple A game. But it does seem a bit blameshiftish.

And i am sure that developers have worked hard and diligently on creating this game, well done all round i say.

I thanked them when i bought their product. With money I worked hard and diligently to earn.

I do not need to send them love letters and rub their backs, its sufficient that i buy their game.

However the solid wall of silence in these social media times is my main irk.
If Publishers stated that: "there is nothing we can do,keep calm and carry on" i would do just that. Keeping in mind to be cautious in the future about games from the same developer.

While its Nice that Mr Carmack have tweeted a few tweets regarding this, people shouldnt have to follow a twitter account to get information, especially when there is a forum dedicated to support and with a subsection regarding the ps3!

Surely a sticky on this very forum would alleviate a lot of frustration?

Finally to adress my "whining".

This is a support forum. The title of my topic pretty much says that i have an issue, why click on it and be negative?White knighting much?

Cheers for the response guys!
