Okay so a pal of mine as well as myself pre ordered a copy weeks ago and just received them about 14 hours ago. Both he and I have enjoyed the game completely except one little thing... The game for both of us freezes at random (Mostly Autosaves) locations. Either waiting 5-30 minutes to unfreeze even had to force shut down the PS3! Doing a Force Shut down could create currpt data so most of the time I am spent just waiting... At the moment I am waiting (On 8 minutes) so I figured I would bring this problem to the forums.

I myself have had it freeze 4 times, only once was it more than 20 minutes. On the other hand my buddy has had over 8 times! One well over 30 minutes! I have the 80gb PS3 and he has a 320gb, so it isn't the PS3. I am tempted to just take the game back and get my money... The game is wonderful! But if it keeps freezing on Autosaves like this... and I have to force restart and lose my data (30-40 hours into the game) I will return it... I hope this gets addressed through a patch or w/e needs to be done... I personally am really upset with this.

wen i see slowing down begins to be litel bit to hard i save quit the game en reload save game = win win

wen u play more then 4 hr (( i holiday = 7-8 hr min) game, somtimes les =( lots corpses staying on the soil to long )

I have more than 10 hours into the game and only had one case where the game stuck during loading!

I'm having the same problem, I had the game work great for four hours and then when I started again, it would freeze at random times. I'm hoping I can fix this, I don't want to return the game, there aren't any games that appeal to me like this.

Betesda should be ashamed for putting the game out in this crapy state that is in.

I rather wait longer and have a good game..

Why don't you disable autosave altogether?

I agree. It seems the logical thing to do.

What I do is to disable all auto-save functions except 'save on wait'. I treat it like a quick-save function, whenever I think I need to, I press 'Select' and let time pass for 1 hour, then it saves. So it's easy to control when it happens. If i'm in a dungeon with enemies nearby I just have to manually save instead, and I make regular manual saves as a matter of course. I do this in all of Bethesda's games.

My experience with Skyrim has been quite good so far. Only a couple of freezes lasting a short time in the few days i've been playing and a few crashes forcing me to reset the console. Nowhere nearly frequent enough to be a problem as yet; fingers crossed it'll stay that way.

Saw the recommendation to disable autosave on another forum. For the record, the 360 I have does this also. I have also had 30 second (or so) freezes where i think the 360 is frozen (but music is still playing), and then it comes back from that frozen state. My Fallout3 GOTY copy on my ps3s do this.. and when they do, I exit and restart and the problem goes away. It's like the caching is getting stuck. Its a Bethesda game engine thing, and those problems happen on either console.
