PS3, Xbox or PC for Skyrim?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 10:17 am

Basically I am wondering what system I should get Skyrim for, I have both xbox and PS3 and I have a fairly new computer. My computer specs are ati HD 5700 series card, 8 gigs of ram, and i7 870. I don't game much on computers anymore so I don't really know if my specs are all that great and I am out of the loop on what good graphic cards are these days. The reason why I would get Skyrim on PC is the fact that it could potentially look better and run smoother and I could use my xbox controller. I dont want to spend any money on my pc for this game. So if my pc rig is going to perform the same as the consoles, i would get it for one of them.

Thanks!

Depends. If you only care about graphics and processing speed then I'd suggest you stick to the console versions. But if you save up your money and upgrade your computer a little, you could max Skyrim and experience it on a whole new level on the PC. Not to mention the mods.

Definitely consoles if you want the least glitchy option.

The consoles are less glitchy then the PC? From what I have read online, it seems like Skyrim was built on Xbox and then ported over to PC? I remember Oblivion on PS3 running smoother and looking better than on Xbox, but I heard this time around Skyrim looks better on xbox. Probably very nit picky and either way I would probably enjoy the game on either console.

After playing the console versions , then pc, I simply can't do the Consoles. Especially the ps3 over brightness, collor blandness and pixel pop in I saw.

I play on a HDTV with my pc at 1080p, there is a noticable difference in textures, shadow , AA and distance draw.

I cna play with the highest settings (be sure gpu is defaulted to app control) with a controller, jsut with the nicest possible achivement. No issues so far so happy.

I've got a PC capable of handling it on ultra settings, but I'm much happier with the Xbox version. I pre-ordered on the 360 and to be honest I was a little worried. But it's blowing me away. I honestly can't believe how good it looks on console.

Metacritic compilations of scores seem to be giving the 360 version a slight lead, but I'm certain it's probably too close to notice.

Xbox does get new addon content a month earlier than PC and PS3 if that matters to you.

Pc for the future of the game.

Mods are going to make it superior in the long run no matter what the current state of the game is.

I hate to repeat the same thing you'll hear from PC owners, but the mods are important. Even if the game runs great, you know that in 6 months the graphics will look better, the bugs will get squashed, you will be able to tailor the gameplay if that suits you. Not even touching on all the free DLC you get to add to your world from modders, the best thing about the PC is that the future is always brighter than the present.

EDIT: hah colddog said the same thing as me in far fewer sentences ;)
