Psijic Garb....What's with the Skyrim YELLOW scheme?

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2016 11:14 am

Yes I know I'm being pretty petty here, however, I thought the Psijic monks were known for being garbed in Grey robes. When I saw the Grey Beards, I felt that what they were wearing would be more accurate on the Psijic monks. The whole yellow, flashy robe garb get-up, I thought was a bit over the top. Thoughts?

Fun fact: The official concept art reveals that the Psijic cloaks were originally intended to be grey, but this was no doubt changed in the implementation. This was probably for game design reasons (grey in particular doesn't stand out against grey stone backgrounds), but it does fly in the face of lore. And in this case the color of their garb actually matters; not because it was formerly established, but because the color grey is significant in Psijic philosophy.

Especially when 99% of the time that you're intend to see the robes, all colors are muted.

Simply put, Stony backgrounds+Muted Colors+Grey Robes = One hard to see Psijic.
