I had initially done the I Put A Spell On You quest and ended up with the monorail blowing up, but after mucking about in Freeside I decided I wanted to do it again so reset the quest with the console. After futzing about with it I got everything in place, but once it came to the part where you had to defuse the bomb the monorail was still a smoldering wreck. Talking to Hsu made the bomb appear in midair, but I couldn't defuse it and nothing triggered so the train was never officially destroyed. Is there anything I can do or am I hosed?

You failed to disarm the bomb live with it, if your rep is high enough you can still complete no not so much.

So there is a way to disarm the bomb? I've never been able to. Was that a bug they've fixed or is it impossible to disarm the bomb?

After you eavesdrop on the spy, if you go tell Hsu right away the train is doomed. Don't talk to Hsu, go straight to the station and you should be able to walk onto the train and disarm the bomb.

oh... so if i dont tell Hsu, I can disarm the bomb? But what if i kill the spy? Will that affect the outcome at all?

No effect

Even if you don't talk to Hsu first and go straight to the train, there's a chance you won't make it in time. So save the game before you actually go through the doors that takes you to the train depot...that way you can reload and try it again if it blows up before you defuse.

Turbo always helps.

As long as he talks about the bomb on the radio, you can. If you jump the gun and kill him before he's done talking, you can't save it.
