Quake 1, Render, and Bots

Man... Quake 1. Haven't played for a long time. I miss multiplayer madness and those maps, my favorite one had a room with quad damage, a long corridor that ended with a portal, which warped to the top of a room where you had to jump to an alcove to a red armor, and from there to the quad room, and below was a super health and nail gun.

I used to play rendering the game with something called Tomaz Quake, and practiced with bots: Frogbot, Reaperbot, etc. Let me tell you, Frogbot was awesome and Reaperbot was close behind. I suppose Skyrim's AI are also bots... but they are not great at killing you. Then again, Skyrim is not an arena with power ups.

Has Quake 1 gotten any new and better rendering engines and bots?
