Bow seemed pretty weak, and player missed a lot, so (every time) he'd go and resort to a magic spell which seemed to totally out perform bow in every way as well as actually hit the target.

Interesting... Well being a world of " fantasy " i guess Magic should outperform it... since that's the common trend. TY for the reply.

Except the bow wasn't missing his target. There is a soft-lock targeting system in this game for a reason.

He missed the target a lot, and when he hit the attack was far weaker than a spell.

Except he didn't miss his target.

You are either very misinformed about this game or doing some massive hating right now.

I agree that the bow seemed a tad weak, but he did indeed soft-lock before he started 'missing'.

If he didn't miss then maybe what I saw was a health bar hardly moving at all after he hit. Which is even worse.

Or maybe its beta, 8 months from launch and they haven't fine tuned the balancing yet? Could also be that his bow skill is weak, seeing how he's a templar switching between both dual wield and bow skill lines.

Um...yeah? Bows (or any ranged weapon) in any game, whether MMO or single player, is weaker than any melee weapon or magical attack. Always has been. Always will be. The only exception to this are games like the Star Wars games.

Maybe he just had a really crappy bow equipped?

Maybe bow wasn't his main skills?

Come on now not every bow has to be an AWP in every game.

He was using magic, melee, and ranged. It looks like we went in all three directions. Your abilities in ranged will be much more powerful if you go fully into ranged.

I was merely stating what I saw. Guy asked about bows and this is what they are right now - weak. Not for me to predict the way a game will be balanced months down the line, and not for you to berate me for not predicting later game balance so when all I did was state what I saw at this time.

It got across that any class can use whatever they want quite well. I'm glad he used the Bow personally... since it's one of the few weapons no class specializes in.

Those fungal grotto enemies had some serious health regen... i'm fairly sure when he does the bow power attack you can notice a decent amount of health loss though.

Edit: By comparison to the regular shot

One thing to keep in mind, is that the regular bow hits are equal to auto-shot in another MMO, such as WoW.

His specials were actually doing decent damage, especially considering that they were doing group content; mobs tend to have more HP in those scenarios.

So yes, his auto-shots were a tad pathetic, and as stated, he didn't appear to be spamming any damaging abilities. I don't think bows are as gimped overall as auto-shot damage makes them appear to be.

I'm sure he was doing that on purpose to prevent from going too fast in the dungeon. It was even stated that he was a higher level before he entered that zone.

No, you were stating your opinion of what you saw. There is a difference.

It would be accurate for you to say based on what I saw, it appears bows are weak. To say they are weak is to make an assertion with little fact to back it up...

Seems like I am sensing a pattern forming....
