I have been sent to Riften in the "Reunification of Skyrim" quest, although there's no quest marker and I have no idea who to talk to. It's the "Regain the Rift" part of the quest, and talking to folk in Riften isn't leading to anything. I think my game is glitched- I was ordered to come to Riften and there's nothing here. Can anyone help me with this?

Anybody? Really at a loss here. Sorry I can't be more specific- the quest log isn't very detailed. I'm working for the Empire and I was ordered to go to Riften as a part of the "Regain the Rift" quest, but now that I'm here there's no quest marker and I have no idea what to do or who to. Is the quest active in your journal? (have an arrow next to it - if it's a misc. quest, both misc. quests and the particular quest must be active in the journal)

It's not a miscellaneous quest- it's the Empire quest line. For a few quests in a row now in this quest line I have had no quest arrows or markers, although I have been able to soldier on, not unlike the way you used to have to in Morrowind. However, now I'm at a complete loss who to talk to now that I've been told to go to Riften. I think that I must have encountered a bug whereby the quest arrow is absent, and so I need someone to tell me where to go, because the game isn't doing it for me.

But is the quest active? Some quests don't automatically get flagged as "active" from what I've been able to see. You won't get the marker if it's not active.

Yes, indeed, the quest is active. The icon to show that it is my active quest is present, although I get no in-game compass arrow and no map marker. I can't think what else it could be bar a glitch, unless the game doesn't want me to know where to go at the moment, although I can't imagne that to be the case.
