Quest bug: Galmar Stone-Fist

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:41 am

Hello, I'm new arround here and first of all I'd like to apologize about my english, it's not perfect.

I'm having an annoying bug and I'd like somebody to help me. I joined the stormcloacks and I was doing the quest "Liberation of Skyrim" in Markrath. I blackmailed the city administrator and atacked the caravan. When I return to Galmar after that he gives me the money reward but he doesn't give me any quest (he just has the two default conversation topics) and the quest marker keeps pointing at him. I read he is supossed to give me the quest "The battle for the Fort Sungard" in order to finish the quest "Liberate the Reach".

I've tried to reload a previous game and do the quest again but it still fails.

Can any one tell me if there is a way of adding a new quest via console or other ways?

Thank you very much :)

After a lot of research I discovered what was going on:

The problem is the quest "Compelling Tribute". No matter if you finish it the normal way or via console (setstage cwmission07 200), the quest gets automatically the stage 255 and, accordingly to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Compelling_Tribute_(Stormcloaks) , that stage is an empty one. You can try to take it back to the stage 200 after that but it won't work, since you can't set an earlier stage of an advanced quest.

Bethesda, this kind and amount of bugs are intolerable in a nowadays game (and better to not talk about your 1.2 patch, a complete disaster). You should have wait a few more months to release the game (at least one month) and fix its flaws properly, instead of desperately attempt to launch it in the iconic date "11.11.11" no matter what (no matter the customers, better said).

Did you ever fix it? It sounds like I have the exact same problem with a later quest in the same Quest Line. I finish attacking fort Something or another and cannot start the quest "Battle For Solitude"

Unfortunately, no and I think there won't be any solution for it until bethesda release a new patch. My problem is that after talking to Galmar, he sets the quest to a wrong stage, 255 in my case, and the needed one is 200, which is the completed stage required for him to give me the next quest. Aparently there's no way to change the quest stage back so I'm kind of screwed (I had to abandon the stormcloack's quest line, that pisses me off).

But still, are you sure you have the same bug as me? You can check it with the "getstage questID" before and after you complete the quest. Then check at uespwiki the quest stages to see if the game sets a wrong stage for the quest.

PS: You can still have hope xD

yeah, i did the check and saw it was set to 9999, the highest value for the radiant quest. Apparently liberation of solitude and battle for whiterun share the same quest id, but will differ in the values or executions of the values. As my stage is set to the highest value, ain't anything i can do until they patch it more, someone has an idea, or we get the construction kit and can see everything for ourselves and hopefully fix it. svcks though.

I'm having the same issue on the PS3 version with the 1.4 patch installed :( it's broken the questions completely. Have tried reloading earlier save, taking different approaches to the caravan ambush, but to no avail. I get back to the stormcloak camp and Gamar rewards me with 600 gold, but only two dialogue options appear so I am not able to get the next mission :(

If someone with a save (ie the OP) wants to try to fix this...

Go https://unofficialskyrimpatch.16bugs.com/projects/7078... it's the Unofficial Skyrim Patch tracker.
Register (preferably in the same name you have here)... makes submissions more likely to stick around.
Create an entry for this (I already checked that it isn't there.) Please try to include plenty of relevant details.
7-Zip (preferred) or RAR or ZIP your save and upload it. Naked .ESS files get deleted.
And thanks.
