i started the quest boethias calling and i killed everyone at knifepoint ridge and removed the ebony mail from boethiahs champions body, i then decided to give this to my follower to wear without realising that i had to equip it to complete the next part of the quest, i then took my follower to join the blades. But when he joined the ebony mail had gone and it is nowhere to be found, this is preventing me from finishing the mission and its so annoying knowing i will never be able to complete the game, it feels like ive just wasted hundreds of hours playing a game to find out it doesn't work properly and cannot be complete. Ive seen a few people online with the same proplem but no way to resolve the problem. Can you fix this ????????????????????

Are you on a PC? If so, can you add a copy of Ebony Mail from the console?

Don't think there's anything around that, unfortunately. At least you GOT the ebony mail. The location it sends you to was one I was already in, and they block off part of the mine originally, and open it when you start the quest. But I started the quest after first entering the mine, and when I came back they never opened the rest of the mine up. This quest seems to be a minefield of bugs.

I'm pretty sure the game tells you to equip Ebony Mail when you get it. Just sayin'.

It ain't the end of the world. The entire game isn't broken because you didn't finish part of a quest the right way. There's a prompt right on the screen that says "Equip ebony mail". Then you get the final message from Boethia. Upon completion of each quest you also get a prompt that consists of both sound and big white lettering across the top of the screen that says "X Quest Completed: X, Y, Z". Didn' you notice that didn't happen? If you have so many hours in the game it would be hard to not notice it.

If it's as bad as all that; you can just reload. It kind of svcks but it's better than crying about it.

or they could just make sure the game works properly before they sell it

Haven't gotten that far in the MQ yet, but did your follower leave your service to join the Blades? If so, you can't really complain. What they do with their inventory is up to them and I would expect anything they were carrying to disappear.

i know but it is definatly a bug, if the item is a quest item then they should never of let me remove it from my inventory and every other item you give to the people you sign up with the blades stays in there inventory. i am now stuck and cannot complete that quest.

The game does work properly most of the time for most people. It's not entirely Bethesda's fault if they can't come up with all possible ways people will botch the game of their accord because they rush and/or don't pay attention.

all they had to do was make sure all of the quest item could not be removed from your inventory.
