Quest Issues...Cidhu Mine & Peace Treaty

Post » Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:25 am

I was doing the quest that has the cidhu mine in it...its where you have to allow yourself to be arrested & do the quest for the forsworn while your incarcerated in order to clear your name...well i finished it & now when i go back to marthal (spelling ?) where this was at guards attack me on the spot & ive had to kill 1 bounty hunter & out run another....i dont understand what went wrong! i did a mission as well for the guy whose wife was killed (the treasury location) & when i went back to collect the bounty again guards attack me on the spot! i have moved on since then & just dont go to that area bc ive done so much gameplay that i didnt want to lose i gave up on that area but is this a glitch ? my xbox hasnt told me i need a update....frustrated that i play a mission out & then get punished !!

Also I read theres a way to get the Stormcloaks & Imperials to sign a peace treaty so you dont have to choose a side ?

It's the quest Season Unending, part of the main storyline. If you have not joined a side in the war, or if you have but your side only controls seven holds (or less), once you progress the main quest to a certain point it will be impossible to continue with it unless you either finish the civil war questline first OR negotiate a ceasefire while you deal with the dragon problem.

The ceasefire is only possible as part of the main quest and can only be negotiated at one specific point in that story. So if you aren't playing the main quest, you will never have the option. Also it's not a peace treaty, it's a ceasefire that only lasts until you finish the main quest. Once you do that, the ceasefire is over. You cannot resolve the civil war in Skyrim without picking a side and playing through til you control the entire province. If you're satisfied with just the ceasefire I guess you could do the main quest up through Season Unending and then just never finish it.

Edit: and you don't *have* to choose a side in the war anyway, you can completely ignore it. It will just remain in a permanent stalemate, with the Legion controlling the west and the Stormcloaks controlling the east and both Tullius and Ulfric trying to decide what to do about Whiterun.

The Cidhna Mine quest is bugged, you have to go to prison, or the guards will keep attacking you.

The peace treaty one is part of the Main Quest.

Shouldn't this be moved to the Spoilers forum, by the way?
