So I've noticed that the quest makers work for the main storyline, but when it comes to finding side quests, its not very useful. For example, I met Shadr in Riften on the bridge in front of the tavern. He told me his issue with Sapphire lending him money then stealing his goods so I went and talked to her and got her to drop the debt. I immediately went back outside and Shadr was gone. I highlighted his quest in Misc and the Misc category as a whole, but the map won't show me where Shadr is. I've spent two whole days running around the city looking for him and its as if he doesn't exist any more. This is really frustrating. In Oblivion the marker would always show you where the person you're trying to talk to is. Why was this feature left out of Skyrim? Also, what happened to the ability to read the previous conversations you had with people regarding a specific quest? Unless I take notes, you can't expect me to remember all the details and "return to Shadr" is a little vague.
Also on a completely different note, when I fast travelled back to Riften, the world started randomly drawing what looks like normal maps in places instead of textures. I first noticed it on one of the characters and then it just seemed to spread around everything in the city. Here's a screenshot...
