First of all, Survival and Repairing/Modding. The game really doesnt ease you into this IMO. I really liked the idea of cooking up my own stuff, reapiring my kit and modding my weapons, like you would if this was for real, but is it a case of pick up every single bit of loot in the game and hope it is an item required to cook or mod with? Because I just dont have the space without going over my carry limit, and it seems really goofy, even if I can find a bench/campfire.
Second of all, and this is my big beef. I was taking my sweet time doing side-quests, exploring and slowly edging towards the main quest on the way. On my travels to Vegas I decided I quite liked the NCR and thought I'd go out my way to help them and oppose the Legion in. After I get to vegas and confront Benny and spoke to Yes-man, it became clear I had to pick sides soon. So my plan was to take over the strip myself, and in turn help out the NCR in the coming conflict. So I leave the Casino and then "BAM" Im mobbed by so many NPC's and quests my mind literally exploded.
The next thing I know I have so many quests I was completely confused on how to progress how I wanted to and it seemed like my slow build up was for nothing as it was inevitable I would all of a sudden get mobbed by all this information. Anyway, I tried to stick to my plan, I decided to go after Benny (completely unaware I would have to accept a quest from Caeser who I intended to oppose) get the chip, come back, kill Mr House and then use my Robot Army to help the NCR. But it just hasnt worked out like that.
Now I have a quest to go speak to Caeser to inform him I have killed Mr House, as though I was helping him (remember I wanted to help NCR). I seem to not really be able to do anything with Yes-man except investigate tribes (although this was handed to me earlier so I'm not even sure it moves the main story along). And I was totally annoyed I had so much interaction with the Legion when all I had done and wanted to do was help the NCR, I only managed a few side quests with NCR and yet Im having tea with Caeser because I stumbled upon it... I only later found a note in Misc (not a proper quest) that I can go see an Ambassador of the NCR and help them. Does anyone know if this is the definite way to help NCR? Or can I help them now Ive taken over the robots and killed House?
In conclusion: I think the pacing of the game took a real, real bad turn for the worse when you get to New Vegas. I have a quest to help Ceaser, a quest to help NCR and all the time I've already taken over the robots but have no idea what to do with them aside from go investigate tribes (i done one, and was told I have the option to "ignore them" but the game doesnt really state what this means). I'm tempted to start again and go the NCR way properly, but this is annoying as I had such a good natural flow with the game and living with my decisions but staying true to NCR, now Im not sure who I'm siding with, apparently Legion and NCR are both gonna be upset if I keep working for Yes-man too lol.... god its a mess.
